Griffin | Bestiary Dragon's Dogma Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Description: A flying creature which is a mixture of an eagle and a lion. One of the most characteristic beasts that can be encountered in Grannys.
Location: Estan Plains, Moonshower Cliffs, Northface Forest, Bluemoon Tower, Eradication Site. Griffins appear mostly in the area around Gran Soren, where they hunt. They usually don't attack. You have to kill one of them in the Bluemoon Tower during the Griffin's Bane quest.
Attacks: The Griffin uses a wide range of attacks which it uses depending on the situation. In the air, in can suddenly drop down on its opponent. On the ground, it often tries to grab a character and smash them on the ground (move the left stick to free yourself) or charge. The flapping of the wings sweeps the characters off their feet.
Weakness: Fire.
Strategy: A fight with a typical Griffin (not the one at the Bluemoon Tower) is divided into to stages. First, bring it to the ground. The fastest way to do this is to set its wings on fire (with magick, arrows, etc.) - a few seconds later you'll see an animation in which it crash-lands on the ground.
In a close contact fight, climb onto its back and strike the head. If possible, attack with fire and try to damage the wings. Griffins have a tendency to flee the battlefield - especially when the night falls in.
