Velka - absolution of sins Dark Souls III Guide
Last update: 01 June 2016
During the game, you may accidentally attack an NPC that remains hostile towards you. In some cases, this ran be changed. What you do is buy absolution from Velka. This will bring things back to normal.
You can also buy a total absolution from her, if you want to lift the curse of the hollow. This is similar to resetting the level count after using Purging Stone. Yuria's quest does not end prematurely, as a result, and it is one of the game's endings.
Location: Undead Settlement - the path down
Note: There are two ways in which you can get here. The way provided here is about jumping down in the spot shown in the above screenshot. You get here along your path to the cathedral (to get to the boss arena, you have to cross a big "meadow" and turn left past the stone bridge - it is one of the many paths here). If you have sufficient protection and lots of health points, you can slide down slowly behind the NPC here. You will lose quite a few health points as a result, however it is possible to survive that.
After you jump down, follow the corridor under the stone bridge, a bit ahead. In there, watch out for the skeletons that are formed from the bones scattered here (you an attack them before they fully assemble). While following the corridor, you will find Soul of a nameless traveler, Red Hilted Halberd and (at the very end) Waist Cloth, next to Velka's statue. You can open the door from the other side and this is another way of getting down below.
To do this, you require Mortician's ashes. To find them, start with Dilapidated Bridge bonfire and go towards the area that resembles a cemetery (it is going to be easier if you deal with the giant in the cathedral - it is going to be safer here then). Go left from the tree with the note in front of it (in front of the building). A bit ahead, among the tombs, there is the item that you are searching for. Take it to Shrine Handmaid and buy Tomb key from her, for 1500 souls (it appears in your inventory only after you give the ashes back).
With the key on you, go to the dungeon. You find the entrance in the abovementioned yard full of enemies (if you have earlier unlocked this shortcut, the other entrance is past the stone bridge, opposite the Dilapidated Bridge bonfire). You can open the grate using the key. The rest of the exploration of the bottom part is identical - the only difference is in the order in which you will be finding items and running into opponents.
