Oceiros, the Consumed King Dark Souls III Guide
Last update: 01 June 2016
During the first phase of the battle with Oceiros you must most of all watch out for attacks done using the weapon he holds in his right hand. He will be trying to attack you from air by going up and then crushing you. His regular attacks, if not avoided, can quickly take care of your health as well. Luckily, since these are physical attacks, you can successfully block and avoid them. You should try performing rolls forward, under the belly of the opponent. This will allow you to attack his legs. The one thing you must be wary of is his area attack, signalized by a fog appearing near the boss. When that happens, move away from the opponent or remind behind his back from where you can jump and attack once his move is over. If you remain in the area of effect, you will quickly start losing health.
During the second phase of the battle (about 60% health) the boss will slightly change. He will drop his weapon and start moving on four limbs. In this phase the boss is more aggressive and his most frequent attack is a charge toward the player. If you move too far away, Oceiros will fly up and try hitting you with a rain of crystals. Because of that, it is better to remain close to the boss - his charges frequently miss, allowing you to attack the back of the opponent. In addition to that, when you have Oceiros in front of you, you can easily perform dodges and dive under his belly. Only watch out for tail attacks and quick change of position.
Try getting under or behind Oceiros during the whole battle. It is easier in the second phase when the opponent performs mad charges and frequently misses you. Thanks to a proper dodge you can quickly jump towards the boss and attack him from behind. When he turns in your direction, perform a dodge so that you get underneath him. If you manage to block the boss in the corner of the room, there is a great chance that he will charge at a wall, giving you much time for attack. As mage try keeping him at distance while watching out for aerial attacks. In that case you should also focus on throwing lightning spells since the boss is most vulnerable for them.
You can summon Hawkwood for this battle, his sign can be found on the court with two knights before the entrance to the arena.
