Consumed King's Garden Dark Souls III Guide
Last update: 01 June 2016
Consumed King's Garden is a minor location filled with powerful enemies. The following description insists on unlocking available shortcuts and collecting items, and only then dealing with troublemakers.
The beginning
Do get to the garden from the cathedral where you killed the Dancer, use the ladder and head left. There is a door on the right side of the balcony. Don't forget about it, because you will unlock a shortcut on the other side further on. Head downstairs and collect Large Soul of a Seasoned Warrior on your way. The temple knight, protecting the path, is a tough opponent. He will combine shield bash with rapid blows, so be careful. Furthermore, his weapon deals extra lightning damage and leaves missiles on the ground that explode after a while. Defeat him, enter the room and use the elevator.
Remember: in case you die, you will have to pass by the knight to call the elevator (or fight him again). Make sure that you used the lever and access the balcony again and wait for the lift. Drag the knight away from it, and quickly dodge him and get on the platform. Your foe will not follow you.
When you are about halfway your lift ride, jump on a platform. You will get to a location presented in the screenshot. If you ride to the very bottom, you will have to watch out for toxic substance that covers the entire area. Here, you are safe, so collect Estus Fragment lying next to the body on your right. A Titanite Chunk is on a wall bellow.
The biggest threat are mutated enemies; there are three of them. Each duel will be challenging and a direct combat can end very quickly. The very garden is rather small, but filled will demanding creatures, and thus the process of exploring the area is not the easiest thing. Try to avoid opponents at first, to have enough time to unlock a shortcut to Lothric Castle (previously mentioned door).
Jump off the wall to the left or use the lift go get to the bottom. Don't look behind and run along the left edge of the map, and once you pass the stone bridge (leave all the items untouched for now), traverse the map and head for area presented in the screenshot. If you are lucky, you may even avoid all of the foes and get to the elevator in one piece.
When the lift reaches the top, head to the next room and find Titanite Scale by the wall. Enemies can swoop upon you from the walls, so be careful. Reach the very top and collect Titanite Chunk. Open the door to unlock a path that will make your life easier, as from now on you will be able to get to the boss, without having to deal with the most fearsome creatures. However, you should go back to the lower part of the area to collect the remaining items.
Collecting items
Using the elevator near the temple knight, you will get to a toxic area. Exit the building and pick up Ring of Sacrifice on your right.
If you are not willing to fight your enemies, and are only interested in valuable items, run towards a temple knight that is located at the stone bridge. Don't engage in combat and move lower, where snails are situated. Since you will be chased by a number of mutants, quickly collect the following goods: 2 Black Firebombs, Human Pine Resin, Claw and Shadow Set.
Head to the main platform. From here, there are three potential directions that you can go to (the path in front of you will take you to Oceiros). For now leave the square with two knights, and use small stairs on your right. There is a Human Pine Resin and Titanite Chunk by the wall. If you still have not unlocked the shortcut, you ought to do it now - the entrance to the elevator is just a little further.
The last remaining items are located in a very dangerous zone, on the other side, on the left of the square with two knights. There are stairs that you should investigate. On them, there is a Titanite Chunk, and under there is a Dark Gem. Beware of patrolling mutants.
The way to Oceiros is protected by two knights and a mage situated above, on the right side. You must lure them out one by one. Deal with them and prepare for a challenging battle with the boss.
Remember: you can get to this location after unlocking the shortcut. You can jump off the lift halfway to get on a platform. Move forward and collect Dragonscale Ring. You will end up in a location presented in the screenshot. You may want to finish the sorcerer first, and only then deal with the knights.
Dealing with the mutants
So far, the description focused on avoiding enemies, collecting valuable items, and unlocking the passage. We didn't encourage you to face the enemies due to powerful mutants. There are several tips that you should follow when fighting these creatures (at least in two of the examples).
You will encounter your first enemy in this location once you use the elevator, next to a temple knight protecting it. When you are halfway, you can jump to a balcony and reach the place presented in the screenshot. As soon as you reach the garden you should encounter the first patrolling mutant. Stand at the edge and draw its attention opponents are very vulnerable to fire - try to use Firebomb. Each fire attack will make the beast immobilized for a moment. This would be a perfect situation to strike back but unfortunately, you won't be able to do much from above. Try to kill at least one mutant anyway (if you have enough ammunition, spells, and items to restore focus points).
Remember: if you want to fight in close contact, use fire to immobilize your foes and earn enough time to strike back or heal.
Another foe that you can trick, is in the right part of the garden. Your enemy should get stuck by the door leading to the lift (one that takes you to the shortcut). Attack the creature from a safe distance.
The last mutant can be found in the left part of the garden. You can try to drag it towards the lift, and if you are lucky, the beast may get stuck as well. Use the stairs to use height to your advantage, and immobilize the creature with spells or Firebombs.
After fighting Oceiros
Once you defeat the boss, you will unlock a gate to another bonfire. Pass a narrow corridor and kill a single enemy. In a large chamber, at the end, you will find a body with Path of the Dragon gesture and two chests. Each of them contains a Titanite Scale. Now you may decide whether you want to move to a secret location or return to Lothric Castle.
1. If you want to continue your journey, hit the wall behind the chest - it's another illusion that will reveal a path to Untended Graves.
2. Once you receive Path of the Dragon gesture, you can return to Irithyll Dungeon and locate the place presented in the screenshot (the path will lead you to an elevator from a chamber full of guardians who can drain your HP). Approach the Dragon Statue and use the gesture. Wait a moment in a sitting position, and a cut scene will be displayed. Welcome to Archdragon Peak.
