The Hole - second courtyard | Chapter 4 DARK Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
There's a very linear alley leading to the second courtyard. Listen to a conversation with Rose and head forward. You'll come across a single vampire hunter along the way and if you intend on killing him then it's best to do it before he murders an innocent beggar.
Another opponent will be standing just around the corner. Don't attack this person right away, because the guard is probably observed by an armored hunter stationed a little further ahead. Wait for the armored opponent to leave this area before making a surprise attack. Don't forget to drag the body to the previous alley so it won't be discovered. Important - Avoiding this guard without killing him will be very difficult, because you would have to use one of the powers intended for distracting enemies (like Domination) and then quickly leave this area before the hunter returns to his post.
Approach the second courtyard and once again take some time to learn your surroundings. Your current objective is to get to an entrance to a building seen far away to the left. Obviously it won't be that easy to achieve, because you'll be dealing with vampire hunters, motion sensors, a security camera and two UV generators.
Start off by waiting for a good moment to go left. Proceed towards a container seen on screen 1 and take cover behind this obstacle. Wait for a standard guard to show up here and perform a silent kill on him as soon as he turns around (screen 2). Hide the body behind the dumpster afterwards.
Don't count on being able to take a shortcut to the left building, because two UV generators will stand in your way and they'll make it impossible to get to the exit simply by moving close to the left wall. Return to the start area instead and take some time to surprise an armored opponent mentioned earlier in the text. Make sure to hide this body as well, preferably in an alley you've used to get here.
Your next target should be a standard guard who can be found in an alley located to the right. Use the passageway which was patrolled by the last armored opponent and avoid stepping on the objects found on the ground. Surprise the hunter from the back and hide his body behind the wall.
Notice that a new armored opponent is patrolling the central area of the second courtyard. The best moment to attack this person is when the hunter is far away from the starting point. Avoid stepping on the leafs while trying to organize a surprise attack. The same applies to a motion sensor attached to one of the trees and to a security camera which is monitoring this entire square.
You can also try avoiding all of the hunters mentioned above - you'll have a lot of problems with the guard from the right alley and you would have to distract him somehow (for example by stepping on litter) or stun him with one of your advanced vampiric powers. All of the tactical options have the some goal and that is to get closer to the exit shown on the screen above.
Once again you should consider using Shadow Leap here. My recommendation is to teleport Eric to an area located to the right of the exit (screen above), however before you activate this ability make sure that a hunter patrolling the alley to the right is heading the other way. Important - If you still didn't fully upgrade your teleportation skills then you must consider moving a little bit closer to the exit before activating your ability, but make sure not to activate a nearby UV generator if you don't want to complicate things even more.
Proceed to a side alley after a successful teleportation and it's especially important if your "jump" wasn't perfect and resulted in the UV generator becoming active for a while. Explore a side corridor located to the left and you'll uncover a new PDA (200 experience points) (screen above).
You should now take care of a single guard who is inspecting the side alley. The patrol routes of this person are easy to predict so you shouldn't have any trouble.
There's only one more vampire hunter for you to kill and it's very likely that your last teleportation has convinced him to inspect the first UV generator. Obviously this will make things even more difficult for you. If you have unlocked the Shadow Grip ability (even the basic version) then that's how you should kill him. Otherwise consider activating Shadow Kill along with moving back from the UV generator or distracting him somehow.
The exit from the second courtyard is seen on the screen above and you can head over there after securing this entire location or after teleporting yourself to the side alley (this means you'll leave the final two armored hunters alone). In both cases it's good to use Shadow Leap to your advantage so you won't have to worry about activating the second UV generator by mistake.
Don't move too fast, because there are two additional enemies inside the building you've just entered. The first vampire hunter is standing next to a staircase. You shouldn't have any problems killing him. Avoiding him on the other hand will prove to be very tricky and you would have to distract or stun him.
Approach the stairs and head down. Make a stop when you're close enough to a motion sensor and use the Shadow Leap ability to go past it.
Notice that there's a single enemy standing near the stairs in the basement. The best method of play here is to teleport Eric behind this person in order to avoid the hunter or to surprise him from behind. I wouldn't recommend using the motion sensor to convince the guard to visit the upper floor, because he may discover a body one of his colleagues (assuming you didn't spend a lot of time hiding the corpses).
You may finalize your journey to the Sanctuary club by approaching the elevator and watching a new vision with "the angel". The main reward for leaving both courtyards is 1000 experience points, however you can receive another 1000 experience points if you didn't raise any alarms.
