M17 Base - cryo chambers | Chapter 6 DARK Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
You'll soon enter a large area filled with cryo chambers. Once again you will have to watch out for vampire hunters, especially since one of them will be wearing a heavy armor and using a minigun. Thankfully there also some good news. First of all, there are only motion sensors in this hall so you won't have to be on a look out for other countermeasures. Second of all, you will have a chance to easily avoid all of the enemies and reach the exit in under a minute.
The room where you're starting has two exits. If you intend to choose the left side of the hall then it won't take long for the main character to come across two armored hunters and depending on your preferred style of play you can either avoid them or kill them. If you plan on eliminating enemy units then start by killing a soldier who often goes to the right and don't forget to hide his body. Once he's gone focus on his colleague - you can surprise this person from behind, perform a long-distance kill or start running close to a nearby cover so that the hunter will change his position and become an easier target.
You'll come across two other guards near the area where the left path is ending and as always they won't start their patrols until they've finished having their conversation. You can use the opportunity that they won't move while they're still talking and quickly sneak past them or you can kill them after they split up - one of the guards will move to the area to the left to the stairs and the second hunter will start patrolling the area under the upper balconies.
If you intend to choose the right side of the hall then you'll almost immediately encounter a single armored hunter and depending on your preferred style of play you can either avoid him or kill him. If you plan on eliminating this soldier then wait for him to start moving left and don't forget to hide the body (preferably inside the room where you've started).
You'll come across two other guards near the area where the right path is ending and as always they won't start their patrols until they've finished having their conversation. You can use the opportunity that they won't move while they're still talking and quickly sneak past them (teleportation will come in handy here) or you can kill them after they split up - one of the guards will start moving towards the starting point and his colleague will start patrolling the area under the upper balconies.
You'll encounter one more guard at the very end of the right path, near the stairs leading to the upper level. Thankfully the game will make it easy for you to either avoid this person or to perform a surprise attack. You also won't have to worry too much about hiding the body, because no one else will show up here.
There are some problems you should know about no matter which path you've decided to choose. The most important thing to know is that you must constantly monitor a guard from the upper balconies (screen above) and use cover to avoid being seen by him (he'll do that when he's stopped close to the railing). The same things applies to attacking enemies when it's safe and not leaving their bodies out in the open.
Another thing you should know about is that the central area of this location (screen above) is being occupied by a lot of hunters. I strongly suggest that you leave them alone unless you plan on spending a lot of time here and don't mind paying attention to your every move. Another reason why you shouldn't attack them is because there's a soldier in a heavy armor among them and as you probably remember it's not possible to kill this hunter without him becoming hostile towards Eric. Don't forget about this area when exploring side corridors, because a lot of the enemies will be stopping nearby and you might be seen (using Vampire Vision to monitor their movements is of course a good idea).
The only way to get to the next location is to make your way to the upper balconies and you can achieve this by using one of the side staircases. It's worth mentioning here that you don't have to risk activating motion sensors found near the stairs, because you may as well rely on teleportation.
Once you've reached the upper balconies you'll have an opportunity to get rid of the armored hunter tasked with observing the ground floor. You can also leave this person alone, but killing the guard is a better idea, especially since he spends a lot of time near each post and so you don't have to worry too much about being discovered. The only thing you have to remember is to prevent the corpse from landing on the lower level, because it can mean serious trouble.
The last hunter can be found inside a small room on the upper floor. I recommend that you feed off of this person, because it won't be noticed by anyone and you'll regain much needed Vitae.
Once you're done in this location (sadly there are no collectibles nearby) proceed towards the designated exit and then use the stairs to head down. You'll soon enter a large security office.
