Cryogenic - plaza | Chapter 5 DARK Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Map legend: A - starting point; B - recommended entrance to the Cryogenic building; C - other entrances to the Cryogenic tower
Your first objective in this chapter will be to make your way to the lobby of the Cryogenic building. You begin in an area marked with a letter A on the map seen on the screen above so you'll be to the south-east of your current destination. My recommendation is to get to the entrance marked with a letter B, because it's definitely the least guarded one. All of the remaining entrances (C letters on the map) are well guarded and you wouldn't gain anything from choosing them, because the lobby of the building won't be patrolled by anyone the first time you get there. As for the complications you'll have to prepare yourself for, you'll be dealing with a standard "set" of obstacles - vampire hunters (normal and armored ones), motion sensors, security cameras and UV generators.
As soon as you've regained control over Eric use the Shadow Leap ability to teleport the main character to an upper northern balcony seen on screen 1. Immediately hide behind the left cover and wait for a guard seen on screen 2 to walk past you. Obviously you could leave this person alone, however it's much better to get rid of the guard. If you prefer a more aggressive approach then attack the hunter before he gets too close to the railing, because otherwise a nearby UV generator may activate itself and therefore may alarm the opponent of your presence.
Remain on the upper balcony and approach its north-western corner so that you'll notice there's an armored hunter patrolling the lower level. If you want to play it safe you could attempt to avoid this person and in this case you would have to teleport Eric to the western platform, ignoring the area he's guarding and not having to worry about being seen by a security camera.
If you prefer to get rid of the armored opponent then you should wait for him to leave the area which is being monitored by the camera. You can use a long-distance attack on him or surprise him yourself from the back (in this case you must watch out for the security camera).
Face the northern building which as you already know is your current destination and use Shadow Leap to teleport Eric to an upper balcony seen on screen 1. Repeat this action with the second upper balcony and then turn left. If you've done everything according to the plan then you should be standing in front of the recommended entrance to the tower (screen 2). You can now enter the lobby and ignore exploring the rest of the plaza and if you want to leave this area as soon as possible then you can skip to the page entitled Lobby (before hunter's arrival). Otherwise you should keep reading this section of the guide in order to find out how you can get rid of the rest of the enemies stationed around the skyscraper.
You should begin securing the plaza by returning to the area where you've originally started exploring this location. Notice that two guards are having a conversation here and you should approach them to speed up this process, because that's the only way to convince them to split up. Start off by eliminating a standard hunter and then focus on killing his armored colleague. Watch out for a security camera found in this area and make sure that your second attack won't be noticed by any of the enemies stopping close to the eastern stairs.
You should now focus on the eastern stairs mentioned above, because two armored hunters are making stops here (thankfully not at the same time). I recommend that you wait for the hunters close to the stairs or behind a brick wall located to the north and seen on the screen above. Try and make it fast with the first kill so you'll have plenty of time to drag away and hide the corpse.
The next person you should kill is a standard guard who is patrolling the balconies in the eastern section of plaza. The best moment to perform an attack is when he starts moving left (west).
Proceed towards the north-eastern corner of the plaza and take cover near the stairs seen on the screen above. This area is also being patrolled by two armored hunters and you can eliminate them one at a time as long as you don't forget to hide their bodies. Another thing you must watch out for is a motion sensor attached to the left wall.
Return south, but turn west after a while. Notice that an opponent in an armor is patrolling the central (lower) part of the plaza. Surprising him will be easy since all other enemies from this area are already dead, however watch out for new motion sensors.
Go west again, towards the entrance to the building I've recommended at the beginning of this page. Make your way to the upper balconies for the second time and start looking for two standard guards stationed in this area. The first guard is occupying the lower level (screen 1) and the second guard is travelling on the top level, close to the tower's east wall (screen 2).
Head south-west and it shouldn't take long for you to reach a huge chess board seen on the screen above. You will have to be cautious here, because aside from motion sensors and two security cameras you'll also come across two UV generators.
Stay close to the chess board mentioned earlier and wait for one of the standard guards to arrive here. Don't do anything until this person moves far away from a local security camera, because otherwise your actions might be noticed.
Move closer to the guards standing next to one of the UV generators. As always your enemies won't move until they've finished having their conversation.
Notice that one of the guards has started moving east. You can attempt to eliminate them, however make sure not to find yourself too close to the second UV generator.
An armored opponent sadly won't move and he'll stay close to the first UV generator where he was recently talking to his colleague. This means that you must either make him suspicious (by running near cover or by activating one of the motion sensors) or you must use a long-distance attack on him (Shadow Kill or Shadow Grip).
If you've followed my instructions so far then there are only two more guards left in the plaza. The hunters are standing by a UV generator close to the eastern wall of the building (screen above) and I recommend leaving them alone, because after finishing their conversation they won't move and as a result you would have to spend a lot of time distracting them. You may now advance to the next page which concentrates on entering the lobby and exploring it for the first time.
