M17 Base - rescuing Tom | Chapter 6 DARK Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
The scenes in the prison will play out in a very specific way. It's not a coincidence that Rose is constantly reminding you of rescuing Tom, because the fact is that you'll have less than one minute to save him from certain death. If you don't make in time then Tom will die (screen above). If that happens you'll still be able to continue your mission, however I recommend that you do what you can to save him, especially since that the game will create a checkpoint when you arrive here and even if you fail for the first time you'll be allowed to retry the "rescue operation" without losing too much of your progress. In order to save Tom you'll have to make your way to a computer terminal located on the second floor so that you'll open all cells (including the one in which he's being held).
As soon as you've regained control over Eric move to your right and rely on sprint if necessary so that you won't be noticed by any of the vampire hunters moving towards your position from your left.
Stop by the nearest crates and take a short moment to figure out how you want to reach the upper floor. The most obvious way is to use Shadow Leap to teleport Eric towards the central staircase.
Remain in the middle part of the stairs and notice that the entrance to a room with the computer terminal you're trying to get to is guarded by two vampire hunters. You'll probably have more problems with the guard stationed to the right, because he's observing the staircase. I recommend acting in one of two ways here - use Domination to stun the guard or use Obfuscation so that you'll become partially invisible.
If you didn't fully upgrade your teleportation skills or if for some reason you can't teleport to the stairs then you can try using Shadow Leap to reach one of the balustrades. I don't recommend choosing the balconies located to the left, because that area is being patrolled by an additional guard and you would have to kill him very quickly.
It's much better to teleport the main character to the balconies located to the right of where you've started exploring the prison. The main reason is that you'll locate an entrance to several side rooms here and using this passageway will allow you to easily reach your destination.
All of the actions described above have a common goal and that is to reach a small room on the upper floor seen on the screen above. Quickly approach a computer terminal and interact with it. Doing this will not only open Tom's cell, but you'll also free all of the ghouls and the creatures will murder nearby prison guards. The game will reward you here for your efforts - 1000 experience points is a standard reward and 1000 experience points is a bonus for reaching the terminal without being seen.
Stay where you've interacted with the computer terminal and check a corner of the room located to your right. Doing this will allow you get your hands on a new PDA (200 experience points) (screen).
Carefully go back to the main part of the prison. As I've already mentioned the ghouls have killed all of the prison guards - there are two monsters on the second floor and five ghouls on the first floor.
Make a stop close to the central staircase and use Shadow Leap to teleport yourself downstairs. I recommend teleporting Eric towards the crates seen on the screen above, but you may as well choose a different destination as long as it's far away from the ghouls, because otherwise you'll risk becoming discovered and attacked.
Start moving towards the cell where Tom was being held. Enter the cell to rescue your ally and listen to a new conversation with Tom and Rose.
Return to the stairs and once again carefully use teleportation to switch floors. Once you've reached the upper balconies turn right, because the corridor to the left is being guarded by two ghouls. Reaching the exit from the prison seen on your HUD shouldn't be a big problem.
