Silence is Golden | Client Jobs - Ector Thief Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Employer: Ector [Stonemarket - Ector's Emporium]
Availability: You get the opportunity to start this mission after you have completed the third chapter of the campaign mode. Apart from that, you need to have completed the Hand Tailored side mission.
Return to Ector's place and start a conversation with him. The owner of the shop will want to task you with another mission, this time connected with the obtaining of the Voice Box for the Automaton. It is, of course, worthwhile to take this assignment. I do not recommend that, though, if you do not have any rope arrows and if you have not yet bought the Wrench, the Razor and the Wirecutter, because it be either impossible to obtain the Voice Box and a few other loot, or it will entail the risk of raising the alarm.
First of all, you need to go to the [Stonemarket - Baron's Way South], which you have already visited while on your way to Erin's hideout, after you have completed the second chapter of the campaign mode. After you get there, start avoiding the nearby guards, by sticking to shadows and using swoop to das between covers. After you approach the objective marked by the game, locate the thief's corpse hanging on the rope (the above screenshot). Fire an arrow there and wait for the body to fall down. Examining the corpse will get you a document (Ector Client Jobs - Bill of Consignment).
Now you need to go to the South Quarter, to its eastern part. You can approach Oxheart Perry's house in various ways, e.g. by starting at The Siren's Rest tavern, or by following a part of the route to the brothel, from the events after the second chapter. regardless of which way you choose, you need to stop in the alley shown in the above screenshot, to the West of the seemingly inaccessible entrance to the fence's house [South Quarter / Riverside - Raker's Ditch].
First of all, examine the whereabouts of the opponents in the area, because there can be as many as three hostile people around. Look up and use the Rope Arrow on the interactive catch. Again, wait until it is safe here, grab on to the rope (you need to disappear from the brightly-lit area as fast as possible) and climb to the very top, to reach a small balcony. Force the right window open now and walk into the small, empty apartment.
I recommend that you spend some time while exploring the apartment that you walked into, because apart from a Picture Frame - 5G, a Bracelet - 8G, a newspaper (Turn Not to Protest!) and a Pocket Portrait - 4G you will also find here a painting (The Court of Montonessi - Living a Lie), which you can remove, using the razor. After you have plundered the apartment, force the other window open to reach the wooden beams above the main streets,. You can walk over these beams to reach the window to Perry's apartment [South Quarter / Riverside - Abandoned House]. This is when you start the mission that you received from Ector.
Start by exploring both levels of the abandoned house, thanks to which you will obtain an Ashtray - 3G and a Letter Opener - 3G. You can leave this building through the window on the upper floor or through the door at the ground floor. Regardless of which path you have chosen, take a look around the yard that you walked out to [South Quarter / Riverside - Butcher's Dock], where there is a single guard. This, unfortunately, is not the only obstacle, because there is a dog cage on the right, and also you need to watch out for the broken glass. I recommend that you attempt to rob the guard anyways, especially that, apart from the regular coin pouch, he also has a document (Ector Client Jobs - Red Blades' Orders) at his belt. It is worth noting that in the yard, there also is a Bracelet - 8G.
You can gain access to the fence's house in two different ways. A better idea is to jump down a hole in the central part of the yard, thanks to which you will access the basement. [South Quarter / Riverside - Oxheart Perry's Basement]. A much more complicated thing to do would be to take the main entrance. You would have to pick a good lock here and, additionally, make sure that nobody is looking towards the door (by looking through the keyhole). Taking this variant would make you enter the ground floor of the building [South Quarter / Riverside - Oxheart Perry's Shop] straight away.
At the ground floor of the shop, there are two opponents - one of them is leaning against a wall near the staircases and the other one is patrolling between the main room and the side storage. If you have decided to access through the basement, you will be able to use the light switch at the stairs and attempt to walk around the enemies this way. Apart from that, you can use some throwables and the two nearby venting shafts (requires the wrench), which run between the main area and two smaller rooms.
Before you take to looting the basement and the ground floor, it would be a good idea to disable all of the security systems here. To do that, try to reach the stairs to the first floor [South Quarter / Riverside - Oxheart Perry's Residence] as early as possible. Keep appropriate precautions, thanks to which you will not be spotted by Oxheart Perry. The box that controls the nearby security systems is located in the bedroom and it has been shown in the above screenshot. It goes without saying that you need to have the wirecutter on you, because otherwise it will be impossible to sabotage the systems.
From the first floor, you will collect two Ashtrays - 2x3G, a Candlestick - 6G, a Perfume Bottle - 7G, a notebook (Ector Client Jobs - Oxheart Perry's Notebook) and a collectible (Whiteridge's Duty - The Observant Lady). What is interesting, you do not need to climb down the stairs to reach the bottom levels, because you can, just as well, jump out of the window to get back to the yard [South Quarter / Riverside - Butcher's Dock]. Seize the opportunity and examine the basement that you have ignored earlier [South Quarter / Riverside - Oxheart Perry's Basement]. You can find here a Poppy, a Candlestick - 6G, a Vase - 10G and a Perfume Bottle - 7G. you can now safely break into the chest here and collect a Bracelet - 7G and a Coin Purse - 15G.
Finally, take to the abovementioned ground floor, while remembering about the necessity to turn off the lights and use the venting shafts. Along your path to the vault, you will find an Ashtray - 3G, two Letter Openers - 2x3G, a Perfume Bottle - 2x7G, two Tea Pots - 2x5G, a Bracelet - 8G, a Candlestick - 6G, two Ink Bottles - 2x3G, two Coin Purses - 10+5G, <br>a register (Ector Client Jobs - Oxheart Perry's Shop Register) and a painting (The Court of Montonessi - The Grace of Insecurity), which Garrett can remove with the razor. The e entrance to the vault has been presented in the above screenshot.
Make sure that nobody is coming and use the lockpicks to open the vault [South Quarter / Riverside - Oxheart Perry's Vault]. Close the door behind you and take a Vase - 25G, a Tea Pot - 12G, a Candlestick - 6G and a Letter Opener - 6G. You can now use the lockpicks again to break into the safe, this time. Inside, you will find the voice box (Client Loot - The Voice Box).
You now need to leave this location carefully. I recommend that you take the venting shaft on the left again (the one in the side storage) and walk through the main door. After you get out to the yard [South Quarter / Riverside - Butcher's Dock] wait for the right moment and walk next to the dog very carefully, to avoid alarming the animal. You can now go to Ector's place [Stonemarket - Ector's Emporium] in order to give him the voice box.
