Find the key in the Men's Ward | Chapter 5: The Forsaken Thief Guide

I recommend that, after you reach the Men's Ward [Moira Asylum - Men's Ward], you start by finding the staircase to the ground floor, because thanks to this, you will obtain several new items. Along your way to the ground floor, you will find a crate with a Rope Arrow, and at the ground floor, a note (History, 2), a Fork - 2G, a Pocket Portrait - 4G and a Syringe - 6G. Return upstairs and take a look around the nearest surroundings, where you will find a Rope Arrow and a report (Shower Vent Report). Now, enter the small control room and find a Tea Cup - 2G, an Ink Bottle - 3G, Scissors - 3G and a note (Absence). The most important thing to do now is to interact with the turning wheel shown in the above screenshot. Thanks to this, you will gain access to the main part of the Men's Ward.

The central, Northern room

I recommend that you give the Men's Ward a thorough exploration, because there are many valuable items and various documents here. I recommend that you start with the central, Northern room, where Garret will find two documents (The Archivist and Room Numbers), a Syringe - 6G, Scissors - 5G, an Ink Bottle - 8G and a Pocket Portrait - 4G. take a stroll down all the corridors, then, to find a Syringe - 6G, three notes (History, 4, Headaches and Night Warden on Duty!) and a Pen - 4G. Climb onto one of the big cabinets and reach, thanks to this, to a narrow edge located under the ceiling. Make it over the edges to the other side, where you will find two Pocket Portraits - 2x10G.

Accessing son of the Eastern rooms requires lockpicks

The next action should be exploring all of the side rooms where the patients are kept, which are located in the Western part of the ward. The list of the items that you can find here is: a Spoon - 2G, a Pen - 4G, an Ink Bottle - 3G and two Tea Cups - 2x2G.

Now turn to the rooms in the eastern part of the ward. I recommend that you start with the Northern-most room, because the examination of the hole in the wall will reveal the painting, shown in the above screenshot, in the Northern part of the corridor. Go there and use the razor to remove the painting (The Court of Montonessi - The Repulsion of Civility) from the frame. Further loot in the Eastern rooms are an Ink Bottle - 3G and a report (Report: Progress). Finally, explore the larger room in the South-Eastern corner of the Men's Ward. Use the lockpicks on the big locker and collect a Vase - 10G from there. At this point, you should hear a man's voice. Close the cabinet and open it again. Where there used to be the vase, there appeared another item, a Syringe - 6G.

The key that you are looking for

Finally, go to the two destination to the South, in the Eastern side of the men's ward. In one of those rooms, you will notice a hole in the wall on the right, thanks to which you will be able to get to the neighboring cell. Search through the area to find the Women's Ward Key, as well as four Spoons - 2x2G, a Fork - 2G, a document (Cache) and another Pocket Portrait - 10G, which is on a narrow ledge under the ceiling (you need to climb up there).

The place where you use the key

With the key in your hand, you can return to the Northern part of the asylum [Moira Asylum - Women's Ward], i.e. to the locked door which you already examined. Use the key to open the door and walk into the small control room. Start by taking a Tea Cup - 2G, Scissors - 3G and an Ink Bottle - 3G. Then, interact with the turning wheel here. This will gain you access to the main entrance to the central part of the Women's Ward.
