To Dust, You Shall Return is the main quest of getting Svetlana out of Warsaw in the game The Thaumaturge. Our walkthrough explains how to rescue Svetlana in the hotel, where to find Javier, how to win the battles in the Dungeon and how to reach the pier in the Prague Port district.

The last main quest of Act 1 of The Thaumaturge is To Dust, You Shall Return. On this page of the guide, we have included a complete walkthrough, which explains how to help Svetlana get out of Warsaw, how to find Javier in Powisle, how to fight in the Dungeon, how to reach the Port Praga, how to escort Svetlana, and how to escape to the Szulski house after the Golem attack.

Going to the Imperial Hotel for Svetlana
- This quest should start after finishing the main quests The Reptilian Bash and Bastards of the Night. Additionally, for each of these missions, you must repeat the Taming Darkness quest to tame each Salutor.
- Choose from the map of Warsaw Southern Srodmiescie and visit again The Imperial Hotel from the southern part of the district. Go upstairs and visit apartment 237 again.
- In the hotel room, apart from Svetlana, there is a group of thugs - you have to defeat 4 opponents in combat (2 with melee weapons, 2 with firearms). Don't drastically alter your combat tactics in response to the unpredictable attacks from the enemies in this fight - instead, focus on stripping the bandits of their protection and eliminating them systematically.
Talking with Svetlana
- Scan the area around the defeated opponents, and you will find the traces Attacker's Wallet and Attacker's Hat. The obtained ID of the Okhrana agent will be useful later. You'll unlock the conclusion The Attackers.
- In the apartment, you'll also find the observation Svetlana's Letters and the conclusion The Attack on Svetlana.
- During the conversation with Svetlana, you can bring up the topic of Okhrana agents or immediately focus on getting her out of the city. The decision to choose between offering selfless help and paid help will only impact the Flaw.
- After meeting Svetlana, reach London Bar in the northern part of the Southern Srodmiescie district. You can intervene in Abaurycy's attempt to recover the debt or immediately focus on Svetlana's storyline - this will only influence his reaction.
Finding Javier in Powisle
- Go to the Powisle district with the task of finding Javier, who can help Svetlana. You can find people in different parts of the District and ask about Javier. This action is optional, and some of these meetings may result in a fight.
- One of the quest's objectives involves examining Javier's Barge. Get to the eastern passage in the above pictures, which is guarded by Sergeant Karas and other police officers. You can show the Okhrana ID obtained at the beginning of the quest or defeat the police officers in combat (a group of 4).
- Step inside Javier's Barge moored at the small pier. You must use your perception to find the following observations: Bed, Snuffbox, Bloodstained Bandages, Punching Bag, and Scattered Clothes. You'll unlock the conclusion Javier's Barge.
- You'll learn from the traces obtained that Javier is connected to illegal fights in the Powisle district. After leaving the barge, Wiktor will be stopped by a group of three bandits - they must be defeated.
- A telepathic conversation with another thaumaturge, Ariel Rofe, will begin after the clash.
- After the conversation, you'll immediately move to the Dungeon, which is the location where fights are organized. You won't be able to leave this location until you have made sufficient progress in the quest.
- In the Dungeon there are unique collectibles and observations - Massage Equipment, Familiar trace, and Boxing Gloves. You'll unlock the observation The Illegal Fighting Star.
- You can talk to several NPCs. The bookmaker will enable betting on the fights, where you can place bets on Barszczyk (who will later be replaced by Wiktor) or on his opponents. Alice and Bessie Gordon are two fighters who plan to appear in the fighting arena.
- In the end, you have to join Ariel in the Lodge. You'll meet Barszczyk and, thanks to the traces you find, you have the option to unmask him as Javier (otherwise, it will happen a bit later).
- You can choose to take Javier's place in the arena or decide not to participate in the fights and immediately explain the reason for your arrival. The possibility of withdrawing from further fights will also be available following each successful clash in the arena.
- There are a total of 3 groups of opponents to defeat in the arena. The next fights are approached in turn, without the possibility of rest. The last group will include Alice and Bessie Gordon, whom you may have already met before. Sisters can recover some health points every turn, so deprive them of their traits as soon as possible.
If you've placed your bet correctly, don't forget to return to the bookmaker after winning all 3 fights.
Reaching Svetlana
- Regardless of how many clashes he has fought, Wiktor will arrange transport for Svetlana. Leave the dungeon and go to the Powazki Cemetery district.
- Visit the Nadarzynski house, the same one where Rasputin stayed. Confirm the execution of the plan during the conversation with the woman.
- The action will move to the new district - Port Praga. Until the quest is completed, you cannot leave the district and some of it areas will remain inaccessible.
- Visit the hideout in the Shed in the northern part of the district, where you can find some collectibles. Talk to Javier to head towards the pier.
Going to the pier
- Leave your hideout and follow Javier. Along the way, you will be stopped by a group of men who must be defeated.
- Javier is Wiktor's new temporary ally - you can follow his movements in the action queue (green color - as shown in the picture). It's worth attacking the same opponents, as this will get rid of them faster.
- After the fight, you'll be in the western part of the district that was previously inaccessible. Reach the pier and talk to Svetlana about the "prize."
- Golem, a massive monster, will appear. You don't need to worry about confronting this material form of Salutor. The whole encounter with the monster is a cutscene.
Getting out of the Port Praga
- After the Golem's attack is over, talk to Ariel Rofe, about how the Golem will start hunting the protagonist and his family. You need to start a rather straight march towards the carriage in the northern part of the district.
- You may meet a worker along the way - this is an opportunity to get optional observations: Walking a Tightrope, Smugglers' Boat, Illegal Cargo, and Street Lamp, as well as The Possibility of Escape conclusion.
- You may choose to start a fight or present the Okhrana agent ID found in the hotel room at the beginning of the quest to the first group of policemen. However, you must fight with the second group of policemen encountered on the beach.
- On the way out, you'll meet Ivan Konechkin and learn that he is an Okhrana agent. There's no risk of starting another clash. All variants lead to Ivan shooting his companion, and Wiktor sharing information about Svetlana's fate.
- Reach the carriage and choose the option to travel to Northern Srodmiescie. Go to the Szulski Family Tenement House. You'll watch a scene of the meeting with Ligia and Rasputin, and the chosen dialogues don't have any serious consequences.
- You'll complete the described quest and start the main mission All Our Curses.
