The Mermaid City's Son is the main quest from the first visit to Warsaw in The Thaumaturge. The second main quest in The Thaumaturge is The Mermaid City's Son. Our guide includes a full walkthrough of this quest. The guide provides instructions on leaving the kettle after departing from Vienna Station, reaching the Powazki Cemetery, defeating the first opponent with the trait, accessing the Szulski Family Mausoleum, and locating the hidden alcohol for Woronin in the basement of the Szulski Family Tenement House in Northern Srodmiescie.

Find a way to get out of the kettling incident

1. The quest will begin after completing the first main quest Shadows of Sins Past. Wiktor will arrive in Warsaw. The act 1 will begin at the Vienna Station location. Select any of the 2 platform exits, and then head to the station exit. You will find yourself in the Southern Srodmiescie district.
2. An incident will unfold outside, and all the people present will be detained. Talk to Wanda and listen to her plan. You'll unlock the observation Request from a Girl in Trouble.
3. Use your perception to find other traces in the area - these are the Police Barrier and Pistol Bullets on the ground next to Wanda (above picture).

Start a conversation with one of the people present at this location.

1. Conversation with a worker (The Worker's Leader observation) - you can only ask about his intentions or offer your help in the fight and start a clash with the police.
2. Speaking to the corporal (observation: Gendarme Readiness and the conclusion: The Manhunt at the Station) - you can betray Wanda and have her captured, provoke a fight with the policemen, or use manipulation on the corporal.

Manipulation is only possible if you have found all traces and have 2 Deed Dimension points. The corporal accuses the worker. This is a variant that favors Wanda, who will express gratitude for your help and suggest a future meeting (observation: Another Meeting and conclusion Wanda).

Going to the father's funeral at Powazki

1. Regardless of the decision taken, you can freely travel around Southern Srodmiescie. You don't need to fully explore this district to complete the quest.
2. The destination is Powazki Cemetery. Get to the carriage or the tram stop and choose Powazki Cemetery from the Warsaw map (traveling around the game world is explained in more detail on the How to use fast travel? page).

1. The cemetery is in the north-eastern part of the district. At the entrance to the cemetery, Wiktor is stopped by a group of bandits, and both dialogue options require you to defeat them.
2. The fight has 2 parts. The first part involves 2 opponents and includes a tutorial on how to switch between Salutors. In a given round, only 1 of the Salutors can make an attack, but in the next round, you can choose a different Salutor.
3. The second part of the clash is a tutorial on how to deprive opponents of traits that may make them resistant. Highlight the icon next to the enemy's health bar. You'll discover that this specific enemy is sensitive to Upyr's attacks. After disabling the trait, you can continue to attack in any way you want.

1. After the fight, enter the cemetery and head towards Szulski Family Mausoleum (north). Mordechaj Chajat is an NPC you can talk to.
2. Enter the mausoleum and you'll meet Woronin and Ligia - Wiktor's sister. After saying goodbye to Wiktor's father (the choice of reaction doesn't matter), Ivan Konechkin will also want to talk with you - the dialogue options you choose won't affect this quest.

Visiting the family house in Northern Srodmiescie

1. Before you leave the Szulski Family Mausoleum, you can optionally explore it. Apart from the plaques, there are various observations - Thaumaturge's Wreath, Offensive Note, and Bouquet with a Note. You'll unlock conclusion Stanislaw's Funeral.
2. You'll encounter Woronin and Ligia again when leaving the cemetery. The journalist Konstancja Szablowska will approach you - you can respond to her politely or chase her away (it doesn't affect the quest).
3. The destination is the new district of Northern Srodmiescie. You have the option to depart with Ligia right away or request some time for yourself and then use a carriage or tram. Szulski Family Tenement House is a large residential building in the south-eastern part of the district.

Finding a bottle in the basement for uncle

1. Grazyna will greet you inside and you can optionally request cocoa from her (a chance for a collectible).
2. Exploration of the tenement house is optional. In the kitchen (ground floor) you can talk to Petya and Woronin. He asked Wiktor to bring the alcohol from the basement. Go down to the basement and use your perception to find the items Pinot Noir from Oregon, Sauvignon de Bordeaux, and Quince Liqueur with Amber. You unlock the conclusion Voronin's Bottle.
3. Go back up and select the first dialogue option (from the picture) to give Woronin a Quince Liqueur with Amber. After the conversation, you can examine the alcohol and unlock the collectible - sketch.

Going to the father's office to read the will

1. For the main quest, go to the first floor. Your destination is the northern office. Speak with the notary to witness the reading of the will. Selecting dialogue options may only provoke Ligia, but it won't impact the quest's progress.
2. Talk to Ligia and Woronin about the missing grimoire and the circumstances of the father's death. You'll start the main quest What We Leave Behind.
