While playing The Thaumaturge, you may experience the passage of time and wish to personally choose a different time of day. In the guide, we explain how you can make time to pass faster, as well as what can change by visiting the same place at a different time.
How to choose a different time of day?
- The mechanic of changing time of day will be unlocked in act 1 of the campaign, after starting The Reptilian Bash main quest. From this point on, the time of day can change automatically (usually after performing some action or completing a fight), but you can also manually force the time to change.
- Benches marked on the map as rest areas are associated with the option to change the time. The picture shows an example and there are always several benches in a given district of Warsaw.
- After interacting with the bench, you must choose the rest option and then choose the time of day - it can be morning, mid-day, afternoon or night.
The significance of the time of day in the game
- The most important reason to change the time is the need to start or continue a quest at a specific time. You can read this information in the quest's description in the journal. In the example from the picture, the game informs that Wiktor can interrogate the prostitute only during the night hours.
Time of the day also affect:
- availability of secrets and collectibles - after selecting different hours, their icons may appear on the district map;
- accessing shops and building interiors - usually you will just find closed doors, but there may also be information about opening hours (the pawn shop in our example is open from dawn to dusk).
It's best to check how a given district functions at every time of day. This will allow you to discover more potential things to explore or visit.
- When the time of day changes, new enemies may appear in a given district. This primarily concerns the night hours, during which, for example, bandits may lurk in the alleys, and at the cemetery, Wiktor may encounter thieves plundering graves.
