Before starting the adventure in The Thaumaturge, you may be wondering if the game has a non-linear campaign. On this page of the guide, you'll learn if there are important plot choices that can change the course of the story or unlock other endings.
There are no plot spoilers on this page. Everything is described here only in general: the structure of the plot, the quests and the choices that appear there.

- Decisions in side quests

- Minor choices
Important plot choices and their impact on the game
- In The Thaumaturge, most of the time the main plot is quite linear - the decisions made by Wiktor do not lead to unlocking new quests, neither do they affect the course of the plot.
- There are several important moments in the campaign that may influence the further fate of the characters or the selection of Wiktor's allies. Additionally, in the finale, the main plot branches - depending on the selected variant, the final quests may have a different course.
- The game has several different endings, but you don't have to play through the entire campaign again to see the other ones. Just load an earlier game save and play the final events differently.
Decisions in side quests
- You can make decisions only in selected side quests. For example, you can choose a side in a conflict in order to solve a particular problem in their favor. For example, in the Quitting Time side quest, Wiktor can help either Neumayer or his employees.
- Many side missions are completely autonomous and have no connections with other quests. There are only a few side quests that refer to the same storylines; for example, there'll be 2 quests where you'll be looking for a serial killer in Powisle.
Is there a risk of a quest getting cancelled?
- Dialogue choices cannot lead to failing a quest. Worst case scenario, you will block a more interesting branch of the quest or lead to an unnecessary fight.
- It may happen though that an unfinished quest will be deleted from the journal. This happens with time-limited quests, which may be cancelled if you leave them inactive in your journal. We described this issue in more detail on the Can you fail a quest? page.
Minor choices
- When talking to NPCs, you can sometimes choose different dialogue options. In most cases, they will slightly change the interlocutor's attitude, but won't have more serious consequences.
- It is worth noting that some dialogue lines may lead to additional fights. It will happen, for example, if Wiktor's reaction angers the interlocutor. So you should read the dialogues carefully and think about every choice.
