The Bukavac boss fight is the first tough battle of the game, taking place at the end of the prologue of The Thaumaturge. Where is Bukavac?

1. Bukavac is the first mandatory boss battle of the game. Expect the encounter at the end of the prologue, which is also the final part of the first story quest - Shadows of Sins Past - for the full walkthrough for the quest, visit our guide.
2. The investigation in the village will point Wiktor to Forest Clearing location. Vesna will be encountered there, and Bukavac is her Salutor.

How to defeat Bukavac?

1. The battle begins with the choice of a difficulty level. We describe this choice in detail on Difficulty levels page of our guide.
2. Your task is to defeat the wild Salutor by depleting his entire long health bar. You won't attack Bukavac directly. Instead, you have to fight Shadows sent by him. Defeating them depletes chunks of the boss's health bar.

1. Remember about turn order appearing on top of the screen. In addition to scheduled Shadow attacks, Bukavac's attacks will also appear there.
2. Bukavac can apply Suffering status on Wiktor. It results in the protagonist losing a few health points in each turn. Unfortunately, this effect can stack up to 4 times, so the potential health loss per turn may be significant (even up to several points of health).

1. Fortunately, your subservient Salutor Upyr has the Liberum Veto ability that aside from removing 1 point of Focus from the enemy, can remove negative statuses applied on Wiktor. Use it to get rid of Suffering.
2. The remainder of the fight is similar to what you could have encountered before - heal Wiktor if needed, focus on one Shadow at a time and try to deprive the enemies of their entire Focus so you can perform a Strong Attack.

Rewards for winning the fight

1. The main reward for winning the battle is receiving Bukavac as a Salutor fighting alongside Wiktor for the duration of the game (he will replace Upyr). Thanks to unlocking Bukavac, you'll also be able to buy new abilities from Deed Dimension.
2. Additionally, you'll receive XP and unlock the Vehemence Flaw (permanent increase to Deed Dimension by 1).
