During Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, you may run across enemies who are too difficult for you. This page of the guide describes the solution to the problem - we explain what item can be used to escape from the battlefield and avoid losing.
Opponents too strong for the current party level
- You may want to escape from a fight after starting a battle with enemies that are too strong, i.e. those who have a level higher than your party. Another reason may be accidentally starting a fight when your party is weakened significantly. Then you would have to lose the first 1-2 turns to heal your companions and be prepared that they can be knocked out in the process.
- Don't approach enemies with purple icons, because this color indicates that they are on at higher level. Confronting mini-bosses that have a crown icon can also be a challenge.
- In most situations, it's enough to keep your distance from enemies to avoid them. In some locations, a vehicle with strong enemies may suddenly arrive. An example of such a location is Jinnai Service Rd. in Yokohama (the image above). A car with a level 41 mini-boss may suddenly appear there. The fight will begin if you don't manage to escape before the vehicle arrives or if you don't hide behind some large obstacle (e.g. building wall).
More information about enemy levels and their colors can be found on the Is there level scaling? page.
How to escape from fight?
- You can use a Smoke Bomb to escape. You can find these types of items as loot or buy them in stores. Visit Pawn (in our example - Ebisu Pawn Yokohama in Isezaki Ijincho).
- You can carry a maximum of 5 Smoke Bombs at any given time. It's worth always having them in the inventory.
- After starting the fight, select the Etc option from the action list. Open the party's inventory, where consumable items are stored. Find Smoke Bomb on the list.
- Using the Smoke Bomb does not guarantee escape. You will either escape (example in the picture) or waste a Smoke Bomb. That's yet another reason to have a few of them.
- You will not receive any XP, but on the other hand, you will not lose cash or be forced to load a save.
The game will not allow you to escape from some fights. This primarily concerns main storyline and side quests battles. Try to save right after each warning about an upcoming series of battles.
