How to change the main protagonist - the team leader in Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth? This guide page explains the assumptions and limitations of the mechanics of changing the main protagonist.

Can you freely change the protagonist in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth? This is quite an important question and you will find the answer in our guide. We explain at what moments in the game the main characters switch and when you can unlock the option to freely choose the protagonist.
This page has minor spoilers about the 2 main protagonists and how you switch between them throughout the game. However, we do not reveal any specifics about the plot itself, nor why the game forces a change of protagonist in a given chapter.
Changing the protagonist during the first playthrough
- In Infinite Wealth, a protagonist means the party leader in a given chapter, i.e. if this character gets knocked out, you lose the entire fight. As for the other characters, knocking them to the ground does not stop the fight and you can revive them. Specific plot events focus on the current protagonist.
- When you start a new game, Ichiban will be the only protagonist. Starting from chapter 8, Kiryu will become the second protagonist. Each of these characters will then lead a separate party.
- The campaign is structured in such a way that the protagonist changes with the new chapter, so, for example, in chapter 9 you will play as Ichiban again, and in chapter 10 you will return to Kiryu.
- You cannot freely switch heroes during your first playthrough. You have to wait until you beat a specific chapter to return to the other protagonist.
Choosing a hero in Premium Adventure
- You will unlock the option to freely switch the protagonist after reaching the endgame phase, i.e. after starting Premium Adventure - we have discussed this mode in more detail on a separate page of the guide.
- In Honolulu, you need to get to the first floor of the Revolve bar and interact with the phone on the table.
- In Yokohama, you need to reach the first floor of the Survive bar and interact with the side door.
- In both cases, the Change Protagonist option will be available. After confirmation, you will switch to the second protagonist.
In the endgame, you can freely choose the party composition for both heroes. You don't have to limit yourself to the characters you traveled with during the story.
