How many hours will I have to devote to attain 100% completion of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth? This is a question that many may ask before beginning their adventure with the most recent production by Ryu Ga Gotoku studio. As always, we provide answers to these queries - on this page, we discuss topics such as how long is the main storyline, and how optional activities, missions, and gathering collectibles may prolong this time.
Main story and ending
- Don't count on being able to finish the main storyline in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth in just a few days. The main campaign is quite extensive and on average, completing it will require at least 80 hours of playtime. There are 14 very long chaptersto complete.
- The long playtime is mainly caused by the fact that the main story cannot be rushed. Otherwise, your party will start to encounter too strong enemies with levels much higher than the party's, and fighting them will slow down your progress to a halt. Fortunately, the game informs on what level the party should be at the beginning of each stage of the campaign. In the final phase of the game, you'll fight against enemies of even level 50.
- Grind is part of the game's progression, but you don't have to just complete repeated random battles in the cities. There are many unique activities that make grind less dull e.g. exploring new dungeon sectors or completing Substories. With these options, the grind shouldn't be that troublesome.
- After completing the main story and getting the only ending, you can continue playing in Premium Adventure (free roam) or begin the campaign anew in the NG+ mode - we describe these options in detail on separate pages of our guide.
Collectibles, activities and mini-games
- Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is packed to the brim with optional content. Completing these additional activities can extend the game to a quite impressive mark of 140-150 hours of playtime.
- Some of the activities are quite complex. For example, Sujimon Stadium, that involves collecting and sending warriors to fight on arena, or Dondoko Island which sees you build a resort on a tropical island and manage it. You can easily spend at least a dozen or so hours on both of these activities.
- When it comes to collectibles, you'll also have your hands full, as there are over several hundred of them. The most important among them are Memoirs of a Dragon (Kiryu's memories) and Photo Rally (taking photos). Reaching 100% completion of collectibles is another venture requiring several hours of playtime. Moreover, the game has numerous mini-games e.g. arcades, karaoke, working as a bike courier, gathering trash from beach, or gambling in casinos. On top of that, you can develop Bonds with your companions, or build a network of friends in Honolulu. Each of these features can keep you playing for up to several hours.
- Finally, we have side-quests which in the Yakuza series are called Substories, and there are as many as 50 of them. Some of them are initiated and completed in the course of the main story (e.g. to introduce the player to a new mechanic), but most of them are optional. Completing them in their entirety may take even up to several hours, as some Substories are connected to optional activities and minigames.
- With this much of content, an interesting fact is that some trophies from Infinite Wealth don't require maxing out the game, only focusing on finding a portion of the collectibles of the given type or completing only selected Substories. For a complete list of achievements, visit our trophy guide.
