Last update: 14 February 2023
Flying Class is an important main quest in Hogwarts Legacy where you will unlock the option to fly on a broom. The walkthrough explains how to start the class, how to fly on a broom properly and how to buy your personal broom in Hogsmeade after completing the main part of the quest.
Completing only the flying class will not unlock access to your personal broom. You'll need to purchase it yourself, and we've covered that at the bottom of the page.

Rewards for completing the quest
- XP;
- the option of flying on a broom unlocked - you need to buy your own broom in the newly unlocked Spinwitches Sporting Needs shop in Hogsmeade;
- In the Shadow of the Undercroft main quest unlocked;
- The Room of Requirement main quest unlocked;
- A Demanding Delivery side quest unlocked;
- Flight Test side quest unlocked - this will happen only after you buy a broom.
Go to Flying class
Flying classes are taught by Madam Kogawa. You must reach the courtyard in front of the castle (and wait until daylight hours if necessary). You can start this quest if your character is at least level 6.
After the class starts, raise the broom (move the right analog stick up - later you will summon the broom in a different way).
Fly through the rings
The game will gradually familiarize you with the flight basics. Read the messages about the buttons and you will learn how to rotate the broom and how to change the flight altitude.
In the second part of the lesson, you will learn how to fly faster and how to permanently change the flight speed (by pressing the left analog stick). Fly through the rings around the castle. Pay attention to the icons informing you about the location of the rings - some of them may initially be obscured, e.g. by rocks or trees.
Following Everett Clopton
Everett Clopton will propose an extra flight over the castle. It will help you learn how to use Speed Burst temporarily. It consumes the yellow bar (lower right corner of the screen), but only if you are flying high above the ground. Speed Burst is unlimited when flying at a low altitude.
Return to the Courtyard
Return to the location where you started the quest. You need to land - reduce your flight speed and when you are close to the ground, press the landing button (Circle/B).
You will receive a warning from Madam Kogawa, but this does not affect the further course of events.
Buying your own broom
The quest will end at this point, but according to Everett's suggestion, you should buy your own broom, because then you will be able to fly freely around the world map.
Select the Hogsmeade map - there's a Spinwitches Sporting Goods Store on it. Travel to Hogsmeade with fast travel and visit the shop.
It's owned by Albie Weekes. You can buy a broomstick there - each one costs 600 gold.
Albie Weekes can give you a side quest called Flight Test right away - this is the beginning of upgrading the broom. We have described this quest on a separate page of our walkthrough.
The broom is selected from the pop-up menu, which contains available tools. Hold down the menu button (L1/LB on the pad) and then the broom button (Circle/B on the pad).
There is no limit to the length of the flight in the game, and thanks to flying you can also explore the game world much easier and unlock Floo Flames (fast travel points) in remote locations. Flying around Hogsmeade and most of Hogwarts is forbidden - you have to walk. This can also happen in selected smaller locations (e.g. at Falbraton Castle).
