Demon's Souls Remake: Gates Of Boletaria (1-1) - walkthrough Demons Souls PS5 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 21 July 2021
On this page of the guide to Demon's Souls Remake, you will learn how to go through the chapter (1-1), Gates Of Boletaria in the Boletarian Palace.
After your first appearance in Nexus, your next goal will be to go to the Boletarian Palace. When you get there, a cutscene will appear.
When you arrive at the Archstone, head back towards the gate. Behind the wooden barricade, there is a healing item to pick up. Go forward.
You will meet the first opponents. They hide behind barricades or wagons. The best way to defeat them is to let them jump out in front of you. Evade and kill them. Do this with most of these types of opponents. Be careful - after the jump, they do a series of rapid attacks, which can deal a lot of damage. Once you're hit, block their attack with a shield.
As you go forward, you will encounter more enemies. Eliminate them one by one - not take on too many opponents at once.
The main gate will be closed. Opening it will lead to entering the arena with the boss, but there is still a long way to go. On the right side of the gate, there is a grille, which is a shortcut. But first, you need to unlock it from the other side. Ignore this place and head to the left of the gate for now.
Going right there, you will encounter an opponent with a flaming sword. Defeat him and move on. There is another grille, which is also a shortcut, but you will unlock it later. A little further, you will encounter three opponents. One will stand on the platform with a crossbow, while the other two are on the left side. Deal with two opponents first, then defeat the arbalister.
Watch out for the hole with the flying souls. It's a trap, and if you fall in there, you'll die. Bypass the hole and keep going.
Next, you will find a hole in the wall. Go inside, but watch out for the enemy inside. As you go on, you'll ecounter another enemy. Kill them and move on.
Near the stairs, there are 5 bombs to pick up. Destroy the wooden structure, pick up the item and climb the stairs to the top.
Going up the stairs, on the right side you will encounter two opponents. This is a great opportunity to throw previously obtained bombs at them and inflict area damage. However, if you do not want to use them, you can provoke one of them without alarming the other. After defeating them, go through the fog.
In the middle is an opponent on the stairs. And at the bottom on the right is a soul to get. However, deal with the enemy first, then go down to the soul and weapon. However, be careful, because the enemy will throw bombs in your direction. Defeat him from a distance, or block the bomb with your shield, and then kill him and go further up.
Going up, you will meet another opponent throwing bombs. Approach him from behind and attack his back.
Run up the stairs because there is another opponent throwing bombs in your direction.
Going up, take out two opponents, watching out for the enemy throwing bombs. Go forward, and then turn left towards the big hole in the wall.
On a wooden footbridge, the enemy will attack you. Kill him and go straight. Inside, there are two opponents who have previously thrown bombs in your direction.
Going up the stairs, beware of the boulder, which will roll down the stairs, ramming you. When you see it, get down the stairs.
But before you go the stairs, turn around and go to the items. On the same floor where you are, you will pick up healing items, while on the lower floor, where the boulder fell, you will pick up a new sword. Now, head towards the stairs and defeat the enemy who is blocking the way.
On the right side, where catapults are, you will encounter two opponents. Hide behind the catapults to avoid the shot from the enemy on the back.
A little further, there is a narrow road and red-eyed Knight. At this moment, he is a very difficult opponent due to his strength and the damage he inflicts. If you want to face him, block his attacks, and after a successful block, approach him from behind and perform a backstab.
It is monotonous, but the opponent at this stage is very dangerous. Do not try to parry because one unsuccessful move will probably end in your death. Watch your stamina bar. If you use spells, keep him at a distance and fire from a safe distance. Remember, if you move a little further away, he will start charging towards you and attack with his spear.
After defeating him, pick up a soul. On the right side, there is a large door that is closed. You can't open them without a key that you get from an NPC named Ostrava (by completing his quest or killing him). Behind the door is the Old King Doran. At this point, get back to the catapults location and head the other way.
One of the Knights is near the fog, block his attack and perform a backstab.
After defeating the Knight, before you go to the fog, go forward to the room. This path leads to a shortcut worth unlocking.
Once inside, pick up five bombs, then go down the stairs. Watch out for opponents with flaming swords, especially near barrels. When they hit the barrel, it will cause a powerful explosion, which will deal a lot of damage, so be careful.
Descending, on the left side, there will be an exit to a wooden balcony. Attack with a normal attack the chains on the left and right side to cut them. Then go down the stairs.
Watch out for a large group of opponents. You can use the bombs and throw them at them if they're near the barrels. It will cause a powerful explosion that will kill them.
At the very bottom, after defeating opponents, approach the lever and interact with it. This will open a passage from the beginning of the stage, which serves as a shortcut if you die.
Go a little further to pick up some items. When you're done, go back and go the stairs to the top.
Once you are at the top of the stairs, go towards the fog you saw earlier and go through it. At the bottom, there will be several barrels and an opponent who throws bombs. Let him destroy the barrels, or quickly run towards him and kill him. On the right side at the bottom, there is an item and it is the Thief Ring. You can get there if you jump over the barrier.
A little further, you will encounter two opponents - defeat them. Your main path should be the one leading straight ahead, but stop at the fork to the right.
Behind the wooden barricades, there is a merchant from whom you will buy some interesting items or stock up on healing items. Once you've stock up, keep going.
You will encounter three enemies, try to kill them one by one. After defeating them, turn right and go down the stairs.
There you will encounter several opponents. Defeat them, destroy the wooden cart and boards, and you will unlock the patch from the picture.
Moving on, inside you will find some useful items to pick up. In addition, at the very end of the room, there is one of the opponents. Kill him and go straight.
Keep moving forward. Behind closed doors are two opponents. When you get close to the door, it will open.
On the left side are many opponents. However, they are turned back to you, so this is an excellent opportunity to throw a bomb at them and kill a group of them at one go.
Talk to Ostrava, and he will thank you for saving, and you will receive a telescope from him. You can help him defeat the next enemies that will stand in his way. Once you've picked every item up, head back up to where you've fought the three enemies. When you get there, take the stairs up.
As you climb the stairs to the top, watch out for a few opponents. Among other things, there are several enemies with crossbows and a knight with a shield.
Upstairs, on the right, you'll see fog. Go through it. Then go to the place from the picture. On the left side, there are several large spheres. If you attack wooden support, the spheres will fall on your opponents, so you will not have to fight them.
Going further, you will be attacked by two opponents with spears and shields. Don't get too far away, or they'll start throwing bombs at you. Now you can go straight to the bridge full of enemies or to the left towards the two dragons.
Going to the left, at this level, you will most likely be killed after one dragon's attack. However, if you are fast, you can pick up most of the items that are there. However, we don't recommend going in this direction because there is a high chance that you will be killed.
Going towards the bridge, you will see a very large number of soldiers. Do not worry, defeating them is quite simple. All you have to do is go a little further on the bridge and then get back. Red Dragon will fly above the bridge and will start to breathe fire, killing opponents. If you want to get to the other side, go towards the blue and red dragon. When you see that the red dragon is right next to the blue, run quickly to the bridge and the other end. But watch out for the enemies with crossbows at the other end of the bridge.
Go down the stairs to pick up the item. Then go inside the building.
There's a lever inside. Pull it so you can unlock the main gate. A cutscene will show you which gate you have to go.
Keep moving forward. However, watch out for the opponents on the left and right sides in the place from the picture. Go forward, holding the shield.
On the left side, there is an item that will help you in the fight against the boss. It is behind several objects you can destroy by attacking them or performing a roll forward.
Go down the stairs, but beware of enemies with flaming swords. Defeat them one by one.
From time to time, you will encounter a new kind of opponent called Hoplites. It is a slime equipped with a shield and a spear. They attack by throwing a spear at you. Attacks from the front cause them less damage, so you need to approach them from behind and attack the body parts that are not protected by the shield.
Going down, on the right side you will see the entrance to the balcony. Near the body, there is an item to pick up, - this is the soul of an unknown hero.
Descending to the very bottom, you will unlock the shortcut to the beginning of the stage. You only need to pull the lever to open the passage.
Now you have no choice but to enter the palace through the fog and fight with the boss of the location, called Phalanx. More about the boss and how to defeat him, you will learn on a separate page of the guide.
