Demon's Souls Remake: Boss souls - what are they used for? Demons Souls PS5 guide, walkthrough
Last update: 24 June 2021
This page of the guide to Demon's Souls Remake describes what you can do with the boss souls.
You earn boss souls after defeating a boss. These are unique souls that you get once per playthrough, so it is worth considering what to use them for. There are several ways to make good use of them.
Boss soul consumption
The most obvious way to use the boss's soul is to consume it. To do this, choose the boss soul, and then use it as an regular soul. The number of souls we get depends on the boss you've defeated. The initial bosses yield fewer souls, but the further into the game, the more souls you'll acquire. However, using souls in this way is the least recommended way.
Boss soul weapons
A much more interesting solution for using the boss's soul is the ability to transfer this soul to a special weapon. However, in order to do this, you must first meet Blacksmith Ed, who is located in the Stonefang tunnel - Smithing grounds (region 2-1). With him will you be able to create weapons from the souls of the bosses. However, in order for Ed to craft them for you, you must first defeat the Flamelurker boss, who is located in region 2-2. When you do, go back to Blacksmith Ed, talk to him, and then hand him the Flamelurker's soul.
It is worth remembering, however, that the soul of the boss alone is not enough to create weapons. You simply transform a certain type of weapon using the boss's soul. Most weapons must also be upgraded to level 6 to be available for transforming with a boss soul, however, some of them do not require improvements (such as the baton).
Boss soul spells
In this case, exchanging the boss's soul for a spell is much easier, since it does not require any upgrades from the player. The condition is to find Freke. He is a sage who allows you to exchange the souls of bosses for spells. It is located in a cell in the Tower of Latria - Prison of Hope (3-1). When you release him, he'll go to the Nexus
