The Toxic Sewers level in Dead Cells Dead Cells Guide
Last update: 21 August 2018
The following chapter includes information on The Toxic Sewers. You will learn more about the very location, creatures that you will come across, other locations that you can visit and what requirements you need to fulfill to do that.
How to reach Toxic Sewers?
Toxic Sewers can't be accessed right away. You need to get Vine Rune in Promenade of the Condemned first - check How to reach unavailable locations? - ability runes page.
Once you get the rune, you must then go back to Prisoners' Quarters. Search for a spot where you can use the rune to create vines - the picture 1 shows an example of this place (it is generated randomly). This newly unlocked passage will take you to Toxic Sewers (the picture 2).
Location specification
This is a biome level 2 location which means that it is inhabited by stronger enemies. One of them are Scorpions that attack your character by surprise and inflict poison. You should also watch out in areas covered in green liquid, you will lose some of your health points.
There is also a chamber that you can access, only if you stand at its entrance according to a time limit - under 3.5 minutes. Once you run out of time, the door will shut for good and you won't be able to reveal the hidden treasure. The picture above shows an example of a lair of an elite enemy - it spawns randomly in the sewers. Besides the Archer, the Promenade can also be roamed by other elite monsters.
There is also a secret chamber which can be accessed by going through timed doors. You can open the doors only when you reach them in less than 2 minutes after starting the game. Go through the Prisoners' Quarters as fast as you can. The secret chamber contains various treasures, e.g. jewels, gold, Cells, scrolls or unique weapons.
Enemies and other hazards
This location doesn't feature a lot of traps in a form of spikes or balls with spikes. However, you must watch out for the poisoned green water. Touching it will inflict a negative status on your hero. It won't kill you instantly but you still lose a lot of health points.
As for the enemies, you encounter monsters known from Prisoners' Quarters but you will also have to face a few new opponents. Their list can be found below.
Note! The list below consists of monsters encountered on the normal difficulty level. Boss Stem Cells, received by defeating the final boss, unlock higher difficulties. After that you can come across new and more powerful versions of the monsters.
Appearance | Name | Description |
Zombie | When he sees you, he will flex his silhouette and leaps towards the hero. Touching the zombie deals you more damage. If you're nearby, attack him with many hits. You can also jump over him to avoid the charge or roll during it so that he misses you. You can avoid his leap by jumping over the Zombie or by rolling under him.
Undead archer | The enemy will fire single arrows at you and leap to maintain safe distance. Roll under the projectiles or dodge them to get closer to your enemy and launch some blows. You may also stun your enemy if he belongs to larger group of opponents.
Scorpion | The creature will reveal itself once you are close enough. It fires poisonous projectiles that deal damage and cause the poison status (quickly crouch to avoid its ranged attack). Traps are useful against these monsters - place them when a Scorpion appears. Then, you will have to quickly move away. Wait for your trap to kill this monster or you can use ranged weapons. Try to freeze or stun a Scorpion before you start attacking it with melee weapons.
Disgusting worm | The worm will charge at you and try to follow you. What is more, this enemy can teleport - you can't feel safe even after running away from this opponent. Try to keep it in place or distract with traps. If you notice its sharp teeth, dodge the direct strike. Note - a Disgusting Worm drops a few bombs after its death that explode after a moment. Quickly move away from them or at least perform a double jump right before an explosion. |
