What upgrades should be unlocked first in Dead Cells? Dead Cells Guide
Last update: 17 August 2018
Purchasing permanent enhancements for your cells is a very important part of Dead Cells. This is the best way to make hero stronger and more likely to survive the next time he goes through the game. Below are some of our suggestions on which permanent upgrades/skills should be acquired first. You should be able to unlock them during the early hours of play.
Note - In our list we have included only upgrades from General Upgrades category, which are visible on the list from the very beginning of the game. Finding plans for new weapons or mutations is random.
- Health Flask - This is by far the most important permanent improvement in Dead Cells. Use all initial cells to unlock the skills of Health Flask I and Health Flask II (one additional regeneration of the health bar). Health Flask III (two additional regenerations of the health bar) requires 300 cells to be spent, but it is still worth fighting for. It will be very helpful in fighting bosses and in more difficult locations in general. Consider leaving the purchase of Health Flask IV skills for later (three additional regenerations of health bar), which costs 700 cells.
- Gold Reserves - Initially only purchase Gold Reserves I and II upgrade. In total, they cost only 40 cells and allow up to 6000 gold pieces to be preserved at the time of death. You can leave the Gold Reserves III (10000 gold recovery) and Gold Reserves IV (15000 gold recovery) for later. In the first hours of the game, your sessions are not going to be long. So, you will not be able to accumulate huge amounts of gold as a result. It is only after spending more time with the game that these skills become more and more important.
- Recycling - It is worth buying at least Recycling I upgrade, which allows you to convert the unnecessary loot to gold for 7% of its original value. This allows you to get even richer and more improvident when you visit traders. The upgrade of Recycling II allows for the recovery of 15% of the value of the item and is not too expensive, because it requires 120 cells. Don't wait too long to unlock it, although Health Flask and Gold Reserves upgrades have higher priority.
Other permanent improvements "at start" can be ignored in the initial phase of the game. The remaining cells are used to successively unlock access to new weapons, powers and mutations based on the plans found in the game.
