The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells Dead Cells Guide

Last update: 21 August 2018

The following chapter includes information on The Promenade of the Condemned. You will learn more about the very location, creatures that you will come across, other locations that you can visit and what requirements you need to fulfil to do that.

Location specification

Promenade of the Condemned can be accessed from Prisoners Quarters (the starting location) - The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Promenade of the Condemned can be accessed from Prisoners' Quarters (the starting location). This is a biome level 2 location which means that it is inhabited by tougher monsters. The Promenade is full of smaller and bigger fortifications, and wooden elements. You spend the majority of time on the surface. However, there are a few places where you can go underground. Always explore these places - you can find new treasures or get Cells by defeating enemies.

Try to always start your exploration of this region by getting on the starting building's rooftop (do that by using double jumps). Once you get there, you can then jump on the small ledges on the left wall. Thanks to that you will reach the secret area presented in the picture. Your first visit here rewards you with Assassin's Dagger blueprints (a fantastic melee weapon). Every consecutive visit will reward you with a valuable jewel.

During your every visit in the Promenade you will come across a building with three locked doors. Solve a puzzle to open the doors and to reach the treasure located on the highest floor - the solution for that puzzle can be found on How to acquire Gardener's Key (Promenade of the Condemned)? page.

Here you will find an entrance to a chamber occupied by an elite archer - you need to defeat him in order to obtain Vine Rune - The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Here you will find an entrance to a chamber occupied by an elite archer - you need to defeat him in order to obtain Vine Rune. The picture above shows an example of a lair of an elite enemy - it spawns randomly in a location in the undergrounds. Besides the Archer, the Promenade can also be roamed by other elite monsters. The special opponent will appear, until you defeat him for the first time. In The Promenade of the Condemned, there is a store, a chamber with a chest and teleports that will let you travel much faster. Note - teleporting sarcophaguses can be found in the undergrounds. You can't activate them right away, they require you to own a Teleportation Rune (which can be acquired by defeating an elite monster in Toxic Sewers).

The first passage to the undergrounds in the Promenade leads to a secret chamber which can be accessed by going through timed doors. You can open them only when you reach the doors in less than 2 minutes after starting the game. Go through the Prisoners' Quarters as fast as you can. The secret chamber contains various treasures, e.g. jewels, gold, Cells, scrolls, Assault Shield blueprints or unique weapons.

Enemies and other hazards

Among the traps found in the Promenade you can come across spikes protruding from the ground or balls with spikes that move in circle and are attached to the ceiling with a metal chain. Always remember to slow down when you encounter a new trap - jump carefully to reach safe spots. Remember that you can press down in the right moment to avoid getting hit by a ball.

Promenade of the Condemned doesn't force you to face much stronger enemies. However, the new variants of the existing monsters can cause you a few problems. This location also features Zombies and Grenadiers, weaker enemies that you have already encountered in Prisoners' Quarters. Also, remember that this location has a high chance of spawning a random elite enemy.

Note! The list below consists of monsters encountered on the normal difficulty level. Boss Stem Cells, received by defeating the final boss, unlock higher difficulties. After that you can come across new and more powerful versions of the monsters.

Appearance

Name

Description

Zombie - The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Zombie

Once the creature spots you, it will lean towards you and leaps towards the hero. Touching the zombie deals you more damage.. If you are close enough, strike the creature. You can avoid his leap by jumping over the Zombie or by rolling under him.

Grenadier - The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Grenadier

After bending (similarly to a Zombie), the Grenadier will lean and throw a grenade (note - a grenade goes through walls and floors!) that will explode moments after it touches the floor. Wait for the grenade to land, and jump out of its radius. When doing that try to get as close to the enemy as possible - this will immobilize him and prevent from throwing any more grenades.

Protector - The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Protector

A wooden doll that makes all nearby enemies immune to physical damage. You will have to use the power of elements to destroy it, or drag them away from the Defender. It's best to destroy the doll as soon as possible.

Runner - The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Runner

Deals only medium damage in direct combat. The creature attacks quickly, and once it notices you for the first time, it will try to stick to you by constantly teleporting itself near your position. It's best to kill it as soon as possible and don't let more than 1-2 Runners spot you at the same time. You can eliminate Runners faster by using traps - throw them on a platform on which the monster stands and then quickly move away. You can either wait for your trap to kill a Runner or you can start shooting the enemy with a ranged weapon.

Bat - The Promenade of the Condemned leven in Dead Cells - Game world - Dead Cells Game Guide

Bat

You will trigger the Bat once you get within its range. It ignores all walls and floors. It will take some time to charge at you and a red beam will determine the direction of the strike. The Bat will die from a single hit, so dodge the charging attack or strike before it performs the attack.
