How to acquire Gardener's Key in Dead Cells? Dead Cells Guide
Last update: 17 August 2018
In Dead Cells, when you are at the Promenade of the Condemned you might run across a closed building - in order to open it, you need to possess three Gardner's Keys. There is a puzzle to solve here that requires you to locate three rose-shaped keys along the promenade. Below you can find information on how to acquire these keys (you can collect them in any order).
- The key at the top of the tower - Spider Rune required
- The key in the underground area - Ram Rune required.
- The key in the hidden flower - Ram Rune required
- Using Gardener's Keys to unlock the secret chamber.
The key at the top of the tower - Spider Rune required
Each time you explore the promenade you are bound to encounter a tower (screenshot 1). You have to use the ability to climb and bounce off the walls - this is possible only if you have the Spider Rune.
The key can be found at the top of the tower (screenshot 2).
The key in the underground area - Ram Rune required.
Look for an icon symbolizing the ability to ram through the floor using the Ram Rune - screenshot 1 depicts an example of such place. If you move your camera downwards you will notice that underneath the icon, there is a secret location.
After you land in the underground location you will find the rose - key (screenshot 2).
The key in the hidden flower - Ram Rune required
This is the most troublesome key. At a random place along the promenade, you will find a small flower in a pot, just like the one in the screenshot 1. It is always located on the "main level". You will not find the underground or on the higher platforms.
You have to ram the ground several times where the pot with a key stands (Ram Rune required). Each hit leads to a dialogue box. You will not get to the underground, however, after several hits, a key will replace the flower in the pot (screenshot 2).
Using Gardener's Keys to unlock the secret chamber.
After you acquire all three keys find the building with three locked doors - shown in the screenshot above. Use consecutive keys to open the doors and eventually reach the secret area on the top floor. Inside, there should be the Explosive Crossbow blueprint.
The key puzzle is not worth solving during the next time you visit the promenade (during a yet another playthrough), because instead of the blueprint, the stash behind the locked doors will hide "only" a random gem.
