Providence is one of the possible enemies encountered in the finale of the campaign of Stellar Blade. On this page of our guide, we describe the battle against this huge mech which ensues at the end of Selection of Species story mission. You will learn what types of attacks Providence uses and how to successfully damage the mech.
Watch out for general spoilers about the ending - such as who is the final boss and what major choice awaits for Eve in the finale. However, we do not reveal any details about the events of the finale or ending scenes.
Providence as the final boss
- A mech-Exospine called Providence is one of the possible end bosses for the game. The fight can ensue in the final story quest - Selection of Species - taking place in the Nest.
- EVE must make her way to the final arena. Before entering the arena, there will be a supply camp where you can replenish supplies, upgrade your equipment, or buy skills. We recommend equipping Exospines/Gear that increases damage dealt - as the boss who you're about to face is very durable.
- During the conversation with Adam, you have to take his hand, which is the dialogue option on the left.
- In one of the next cut-scenes, you'll learn that Providence - a mechanical Exospine controlled earlier by Lily - has rebelled. You have to deal with the mech who will be your final boss for this variant of the ending.
Breakdown of the battle
- Providence inflicts all his main attacks with his upper limbs. They are quite fast despite the size of the boss, but still, try to counter them with Parries.
- Red combinations of attacks are, as always, harder to mitigate, and they are concluded with a powerful strike from both limbs hitting the ground. You can risk Parrying this attack or jump back well in advance.
- Providence can attack with blue (countered with Blink) and purple (countered with Repulse) attacks. Additional challenge is that they can be fired during combinations of normal attacks. So be ready for such occasions.
- Among the yellow attacks, you will see, primarily, a strong ground pound and a charge. Avoid them by moving to a side or performing a Perfect Dodge.
- Another yellow attacks involve firing beams of energy (screenshot above). We recommend sidestepping or dodging to a side well in advance.
- The mech can also fire a strong charged aerial attack. You have a few seconds to prepare and time the dodge.
- Providence can sometimes start charging a lethal attack, similar to the one encountered when facing Unidentified Naytiba. You will recognize it thanks to the red exclamation marks. You must stop it in time to avoid being defeated.
- Aim your ranged weapon at shields located to the left and right of the boss. At the same time, watch out for red beams of energy fired in the direction of EVE - perform dodges to sides when needed.
- Destroying all shields will make the machine fall to the ground - use the opportunity and quickly run up and fire a Strong Attack.
- During the battle, there may be wrestling sequences ensuing and to win the struggle, you need to rhythmically press Square. Winning the sequence will deal damage to the mech, while failing to complete it will make the boss grab EVE and hurling her to the ground with great force.
- After the boss is deprived of about 1/3 of his health, a cut-scene will play where Lily ejects from the machine. This is not the end of the fight - you have to finish the boss.
- You have 2 minutes to win the fight - make use of the newly acquired blade to fire combinations of strong attacks.
- All that remains is to win the final QTE sequence - press Triangle after the prompt appears on the screen.
