Nation description - Indian
Name | Effect |
Dharma | A city receives follower believes bonus if there is at least one follower. |
An interesting ability that works best when there are more players tying to win by religious domination. You can passively receive bonuses from various believes and the more religions are on your territory the stronger bonuses you get. But, at the same time, you can send your religious army on enemy's territory and fight for influences there. You can even allow your city to be overtaken by another religion but don't forget to keep a very small number of your own followers.
Name | Effect |
Satyagraha | +5 to faith for each discovered civilization (including India) that isn't in war and started a religion. Enemies receive double happiness penalties when fighting against Gandhi. |
The bonus is received right after creating a capital. If start focusing early on exploration then later in the game you can gather a lot of faith points which depends on number of players in a scenario. Greater happiness penalties means that you can freely declare war to other nations and it will be them who suffers more because of that. Use this in a fight for dominance or, at least, to slow down a development of other nations. Ultimately your enemies will become tired of prolonged wars and will propose a truce. This means that you will earn additional money.
Summary
India allows you to train your abilities in achieving religion victory. Playing as them is rather safe and allows to avoid most of the military interventions but that doesn't mean that you should neglect that aspect. Having a toned diplomacy allows you, for most of the time, to be out of enemies' range and if you create a good defence system then, after some time, your enemies will give up on using force. All of the bonuses support spreading your religion but you should interrupt other nations when they try to spread their believes on your territory. The best solution here is to leave your territory on its own and fight for each city outside your borders.
