Crafting in Seven The Days Long Gone Seven Game Guide
Last update: 06 December 2017
Crafting in Seven: The Days Long Gone is rather complex. It offers options to upgrade your equipment as well as to craft supplies and gadgets. Below, you can find the most important information about crafting along with various tips for creating new items.
Items can't be crafted whenever you want. You must reach a crafting station or an alchemy table first. The crafting stations in Lewmer, the "starting" location, can't be accessed right away. However, you only have to complete two simple side quests (Master Crafter and Master Brewer) to unlock them. Most of the stations from the later parts of the game are accessed without any restrictions. The exceptions are stations in restricted areas and those that are owned by some quest givers.
You need two things to craft items. The first requirement is to have a schematic. Teriel has some of them from the beginning of the game. You need to find the rest on your own. Their markers appear on the map when you get closer to them (the picture above shows one of the locations with a schematic). You can also get them as rewards for completing quests (mainly side quests).
The second requirement is to have crating materials. These can be components, junk and auryte. The first group is the most problematic one. You won't find many components. Usually, you get them for dismantling items. Go to a crafting station, select dismantle tab and choose which item you want to break down.
Components are divided into a few groups, e.g. organic, leather, metal or polymer. Each item in the inventory has an icon that informs you which type of a crafting material is obtained from it after dismantling - an example is presented in the picture above. This means that you can focus on collecting those items that can give you necessary components. You can also decide to sacrifice one component to get another but this should be treated as a last resort.
Note - Each dismantled item gives you 1 component. Avoid breaking down the most valuable items that you can sell for several dozen of auryte. Try to break down junk and less valuable items.
Besides crafting objects, crafting stations can also be used for upgrading weapons and pieces of armor. You can do that by selecting the last tab in the crafting menu. Then, select a weapon or a piece of armor and place your (crafted) upgrades into the slots. You can install up to three upgrades in one item.
Sadly, upgrades have one restriction. In default, Teriel can only craft level I upgrades. Upgrades II and III require an upgraded crafting station. This process is expensive:
- Upgrading a crafting station to level II requires 25 units of a few selected components (techno, mineral, metal, organic, leather) and 100 auryte.
- Upgrading a crafting station to level III requires 50 units of a few selected components (techno, mineral, metal, organic, leather) and 300 auryte.
Important note - Spending those components on upgrading one station upgrades all that are in the game. Avoid breaking down the most valuable items that can be useful later in the game or can be sold for several dozen of auryte.
If you really need a certain component type right now, you can decide to sacrifice other components. However, this should be treated as a last resort because you always have to use two components to craft something (one unit from two different groups or two units of a given component). Here is a list of detailed information about the requirements:
- Cloth Basic Component - 2 Leather Basic Components and 1 auryte.
- Leather Basic Component - 1 Cloth Basic Component, 1 Organic Basic Component and 1 auryte.
- Metal Basic Component - 2 Techno Basic Components and 1 auryte.
- Mineral Basic Component - 2 Organic Basic Components and 1 auryte.
- Organic Basic Component - use 1 Mineral Basic Component, 1 Polymer Basic Component and 1 auryte.
- Polymer Basic Component - 1 Organic Basic Component, 1 Mineral Basic Component and 1 auryte.
- Techno Basic Component - 1 Polymer Basic Component, 1 Metal Basic Component and 1 auryte.
