Last update: 10 September 2021
New World has many different types of weapons - including sword and shield, two-handed axe, spear, bow, musket or fire staff, and ice gauntlet. The level of use of a particular type of weapon is determined by Weapon Mastery. The higher the level, the more damage a particular type of weapon will inflict. Weapon skills are also unlocked as you progress. On this page of the guide, we describe how to quickly develop and improve Weapon Mastery. You will also find all the weapon skills available in New World.
How to improve Weapon Mastery?
The principle of developing Weapon Mastery in New World is very simple and the same for every type of weapon. Weapon Mastery develops through the use of a particular type of weapon. For example, if you want a character to deal more damage with a sword and shield, simply use them to kill enemies. After defeating an enemy, you will see a bar indicating progress in a given Weapon Mastery.
In turn, after reaching the next level of Weapon Mastery, you will unlock the ability point for that weapon type. It can be used to buy active skills (that is, those that are used by pressing the appropriate button) or passive skills with a permanent bonus or activated after performing a certain action.
