Buying a house
In each settlement in New World you'll find some houses to buy. They differ in levels which affect the price and bonuses provided (details below). When you get close to a house, you will see its value, but gold won't be enough. First of all, you have to be on level 15 to buy your first house. You will get access to the next one at level 35, and to the third (last) one at level 55.
Moreover, buying a house is possible after reaching at least territory rank 10 and choosing an upgrade that allows you to own a house. The territory rank increases if you are active in a given area - this includes doing missions (also those from the mission board in the settlements) or killing enemies.
One house can be bought by many players. However, the houses are not connected to each other in any way. Each player individually manages their house and has no influence on other players.
House tiers - prices and taxes
The previously mentioned house tiers affect the price and bonuses of the house:
Tier 1 - 5,000 gold:
- Fast travel renewal time: 4 hours
- Maximum number of pets: 5
- Places for storage chests: 1
- Places for lights: 4
- Required territory rank: 10
Tier 2 - 10,000 gold:
- Fast travel renewal time: 3 hours
- Maximum number of pets: 6
- Places for storage chests: 2
- Places for lights: 6
- Required territory rank: 15
Tier 3 - 15,000 gold:
- Fast travel renewal time: 2,5 hours
- Maximum number of pets: 7
- Places for storage chests: 3
- Places for lights: 8
- Required territory rank: 20
Tier 4 - 20,000 gold:
- Fast travel renewal time: 2 hours
- Maximum number of pets: 8
- Places for storage chests: 4
- Places for lights: 10
- Required territory rank: 30
It is worth adding that if you're buying your first home, the prices will be reduced by a half. You also need to know that a one-time payment for the house is just the beginning. You have to pay a weekly property tax. If you don't do it, you will no longer be able to fast travel to the house, decorate it and use the trophy bonuses (though it will still belong to you). The tax value depends on the price of the house and the rate set by the settlement administrator. However, the tax may be reduced if the settlement is owned by the Company to which you belong.
Decorating the house
Decorating the house in New World serves not only to improve its appearance but also to compete with other players who own the same house. The player who best decorated the house (i.e. used the highest quality furniture) is highlighted in the ranking and other players can admire their work.
All furniture is made at the workshop table. To produce higher quality furniture you need to get better ingredients and develop the Furnishing skill.
Trophies - skill bonuses
In addition to furniture used exclusively for decoration, you can also place trophies inside the house - use the workshop table to make them. Trophies provide passive bonuses for your character. These can be improved crafting skills or increased damage against specific types of enemies.
House location
As mentioned earlier, having a house allows you to teleport to it for free. This way, you don't have to use the paid fast travel points that often. Therefore, you should think about where you want your house to be. Consider the central regions of the map in New World - navigating the map should be easier then. Additionally, the house should be located in the region where you spend a lot of time, and which belongs to your faction (or even better - to your company) - this will allow you to use various discounts and bonuses. In turn, it's worth to buy subsequent houses in more remote locations to expand your network of free fast travel points.
Extra storage space
The house is a great way to enlarge the storage space in New World. Placing chests in the house increases the maximum storage limit in a particular settlement. Chests can be crafted at the workshop table. In addition, the house is also an additional access point to the storage room.
