What's the camp for?
First of all, the camp is a portable crafting station. In the camp menu you can create basic items - arrows, tools, as well as food and potions. Other than that, the camp is an additional respawn point. If you die, you will be able to respawn near it.
How to unlock the camp?
You get access to the Tier 1 camp at the beginning of the game in New World. You simply need to complete the mission called Man About Town. The mission appears after you reach the first settlement, so after finishing the introductory missions of the main storyline. Completing the above mission is easy, because the whole thing comes down to a conversation with two characters.
How to build the camp?
Completing the Man About Town mission will unlock the option to build the camp at any moment - the only condition is that you need to be in the wilderness, outside all settlements or other locations. After holding the Y button you will see a glowing camp silhouette - you can choose its location this way. You need to choose a flat, obstacle-free area - if the glowing camp silhouette is red, try somewhere else.
After selecting a location, you must use 5 pieces of Green Wood and 1 piece of Flint on the camp. These are the basic resources in New World so you'll have no trouble finding them. They're probably in your area. The camp will be constructed when you walk away a few steps from its glowing silhouette. Remember, however, that it is not built permanently - the camp will disappear after you leave the server.
How to upgrade the camp?
Upgrading the camp in New World unlocks access to crafting better items (namely higher level food and potions). Levelling the camp up is tied to the current character level - when you reach a specific level, you will get a mission that will allow you to upgrade the camp. This happens at the following levels:
- Tier 2 camp - character level 15.
- Tier 3 camp - character level 25.
- Tier 4 camp - character level 40.
- Tier 5 camp - character level 55.
