Camps in New World are one of the main elements of the gameplay. Their basic function is crafting. You can craft items near them (food or potions) without having to pay taxes in settlements. Additionally, if you build a camp, you will be able to respawn there if you die. On this page of the guide, you will learn how to unlock the camp and how to build it.
How do I unlock the camp?
Unlocking the camp in New World is very simple and takes place early on in the game. Simply complete the Man About Town mission. You will receive it after completing the basic tasks in the first settlement you visit. The mission itself is short and you only need to move from one character to another. After completing it, you will get full access to camp construction.
How to build the camp?
The default button to build the camp is Y. Once you press it, you will see the camp's outline - if it's bright, you can build the camp in the given location. If the color red is visible, you need to move away from the nearby settlement and choose a fairly flat terrain section without unnecessary environmental objects.
Now you have to use 5 pieces of Green Wood and one Flint. These resources are readily available in New World and gathering them doesn't require any tools. You'll probably find them in the area.
After applying the resources, move away from the camp a little. This will trigger it to be built. You can craft items near it and you will respawn here if you die. However, it's worth remembering that the camp isn't permanent. After exiting the server and returning to the game, you will need to rebuild the camp.
