Secret rooms in Dartmoor - what are they?
While exploring Thornbridge Manor, you can find secret rooms– they don't have any visible entrance. The game will tell you where the secret rooms are thanks to the unique location icons shown on the map of Dartmoor. However, finding the entrance to each secret room will require you to do some exploring.
The main reason to unlock secret rooms is to move around the mansion more efficiently. They can be used to sneak into heavily guarded parts of the building. In addition, the secret rooms can also contain unique quest items and holes in the walls through which you can peek.
You don't have to worry about getting stuck in any of the secret rooms. Each of them has 1 or 2 buttons to unlock the exit.
Secret rooms in Dartmoor - how to unlock them?
There are two main ways of unlocking access to secret rooms. The first is about finding secret switches on the walls. The switches can be interactive pictures or books, for example. Agent 47 can find them faster using the instinct.
The second way is better but it requires you to make a few steps. You need to get a cane, which is used to unlock certain secret passages. In order to obtain the cane, you must get to Emma and Gregory's Room. It is located on floor 1, in the northwest corner of the building
A more obvious way to get into the room is to open the door from the hallway side. This is a better option if you're using a disguise and have the ability to use one of the keys/a lock pick/a crowbar to open the door (distract the surrounding NPCs first before you use a crowbar).
A less obvious way is to climb the gutter marked in the image above. This way, you will reach the balcony. The balcony door leading to Emma and Gregory's room is not closed.
Regardless of how you got inside, find the walking cane with a bulldog's head. Unfortunately, this item cannot be put into inventory. You must run around the property with the cane held in your hand. Thankfully, you can drop it and return to it later.
From now on, you can use the cane on mysterious switches. Agent 47 will place the cane in the small slot located on the floor.
List of secret rooms in Dartmoor
You can find secret rooms on floors 1 and 2 of the map. A Dogs Secrets challenge requires you to find and investigate them all.
The first secret room is adjacent to the library on floor 1.
This is the only secret room that requires you to use the walking cane. You won't find any switches on the walls.
The second secret room is located in the eastern part of the building, on floor 1. It is between Rebecca's Room and the Small Office where the lawyer is staying.
If you want to access it from Rebecca's Room then interact with the picture of a dog.
If you want to get there from the small office, interact with the book.
The third secret room is adjacent to Zachary's Room on floor 1 – this is the bedroom where you find the corpse.
Getting to the secret room from the western side of the hallway requires you to use the walking cane on a switch on the floor.
To reach the secret room from Zachary's room, interact with the book.
The fourth secret room is located on floor 2, near Alexa Carlisle's Office.
Getting to the secret room from the main hallway on floor 1 requires using the walking cane on a switch on the floor.
Alternatively, you can get inside from Alexa's private room. You will need to press the button.
