Silence | The basics Hearthstone Guide
Last update: 07 September 2016
Silence is a very useful ability that allows you to remove the active effects and buffs on a specific card. This ability removes the bonuses active only while the silence is active and does not block the ability to impose new effects and abilities on the card.
Abilities and buffs susceptible to Silence:
- Deathrattle
- Divine Shield
- Windfury
- Taunt
- Spell Damage
- Enrage
- Stealth (Only AoE Silence like e.g. Mass (4))
- Freeze
- On-Going effects
Silence does not remove passive effects received by the other cards, nor the effects like Polymorph (4), Hex (3) or the Mind Control (8).
Hints:
- Silence is the most useful for silencing the buffed enemies or, to alleviate the opponent's Taunt.
- This ability can also be used on own units, which allows you to remove the adverse effects like the penalty of summoning on the Venture Co. Mercenary (5).
- You can also silence the Freeze effect. Still, you need to remember that all of the special abilities and card's buffs will also be lifted.
Example cards: earth Shock (1), Spellbreaker (4), Silence (0).
