Hints for new players | The basics Hearthstone Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
- After the introductory training, it is a good idea to spend some time in the Training mode, By winning battles with individual classes, you unlock access to those classes in the Duel mode. Unlocking all of the 9 classes gives you access to the Arena mode.
- It is a good idea to focus on buffing levels of your favorite classes, which allows you to obtain special cards.
- As of now, there are only two ways to gain gold (which is the game's currency): by playing on the arena, or by completing daily missions. Still, the arena requires you to pay the enterer's fee and the missions can be completed in the free-to-play duel mode.
- The Arena unlocks after you have unlocked access to all of the classes in the Training mode. Although the first game in the Arena is free, it is a good idea to withhold and gain some experience in the Duel mode.
- In the Forge mode, you can remove spell from cards to receive the Arcane Dust. The first time the spell is broken, the player receives 95 of the Dust. Still, it pays off to wait and use the forge mode only later into the game, after you have selected your class.
- At first, you should focus on 1-2 classes and master them. This will allow you, not only, to win faster, but also to understand the mechanics of the game and the strategy better.
- There are two ways to obtain a pack of cards: by buying them at the store or by winning battles in the Arena mode. The former costs 100 gp per pack but, apart from the pack itself, it provides you with additional rewards like the arcane dust or gold.
- The game is entirely free-to-play and you can obtain all of the cards from the packs that you buy for gold.
