Divine shield | The basics Hearthstone Guide
Last update: 07 September 2016
The Divine Shield ability allows for the one-time absorption of damage. This concerns damage taken from the other minions, as well as those dealt with spells or special abilities. The Divine Shield absorbs damage during defense and offence but, it does not block the spells that inflict direct damage like Assassination (5) or the Freeze from the Cone of Cold(4) card.
The card with this ability can be silenced and there cannot be more than one such effect on this card, at a given moment.
Hints:
- Divine Shield is an ideal way to eliminate the enemy units without losing one's own.
- The best combination with the Divine Shield, are the Windfury and Charge. The former provides the possibility of a double attack, which allows for taking out the stronger units using only one minion with the Divine Shield. The latter allows for an immediate attack after the unit is summoned and allows you to keep it until the next round.
- This ability is also buffed by the effectiveness of the cards with Taunt, which extends the card's longevity and effectiveness.
- The amount of damage that you take from an attack does not matter. The Divine Shield absorbs one attack and, to eliminate an unit with such an ability, you could first send out a weaker unit to remove the shield to finish the minion off with a stronger minion.
Example cards: Argent Squire (1), Silvermoon Guardian (4), Blood Knight (3).
