Dormant - Ashes of Outland Hearthstone Guide
Last update: 28 April 2020
This section of the guide to Hearthstone will tell you how the keyword Dormant works, introduced into the game with the Ashes of Outland expansion.
Dormant is a new key word in Hearthstone, added in the Ashes of Outland expansion. Dormant cards are inactive after being played, and they stay this way until certain prerequisites are met - usually, it's just a number of turns. For example, the Hunter card Imprisoned Felmaw remains Dormant for 2 turns, then attacks a random enemy.
Tips
- Dormant cards are slow, you can't use them the moment you play them. If the enemy has big advantage, playing a Dormant card will only make it worse for you.
- A Dormant card is activated at the beginning of a turn and activates its effect, but you can't use it to attack, unless it has another keyword such as Charge or Rush.
- Also remember that Dormant cards can't be destroyed or reinforced before they're active.
