Far Cry 6: Time of day - can you change it? Far Cry 6 guide, walkthrough
This Far Cry 6 tutorial page tells you if you can change the time of day, and if it affects the availability and difficulty of missions in the game.
Last update: 28 October 2021
This page of the Far Cry 6 game guide provides information on whether you can change the time of day when you like, and that may be important if you want, for example, to sneak to the enemy headquarters at night. Additionally, we inform if there are missions in the game that require you to operate at a specific time of day.
Time of day and 24-hour cycle
In Far Cry 6, there are different times of day and a full 24-hour cycle. A change from day to night and night to day occurs every few tens of minutes. Picturesque sunrises and sunsets are also available in the game.
Unfortunately, the game doesn't allow you to change the time of day manually. There is no option for sleeping in or resting by the campfire to move the time forward and change the time of day.
An interesting fact is that you can change the time of day while using the photo mode. To do so, you have to go to the light-related options tab. In the same tab, you can also change the current weather conditions (e.g. rain). The game may not allow you to change this setting if you're completing a mission with a determined time of day.
Unfortunately, even if you change the time in photo mode, it will return to its previous state when you leave it, and it won't change to the one you've chosen.
Activities available at a certain time of day - are they in the game?
In the vast majority of cases, the time of day doesn't have a key impact on gameplay. You can play missions, stealth and encounter the same enemies whether you're operating during the day or night.
In some missions, the time of day will be imposed. The game can set a specific day time and it will last until the task is completed.
There are some exceptions to the rule above:
The first exception is Fort Oro, the exploration of which is linked to the side quest Triada Blessing - a couple of specific treasure hunts. Trying to explore the fort during the day will fail because it will be closed.
Fort Oro is a haunted location and as a result, it is only possible to go inside at night.
The second exception is the hunt for Sanguinario, a jaguar which is one of the mythical animals. Sanguinario may only appear at the southern end of the El Este region during nighttime hours.
In the cases mentioned above, the only solution is to wait until the time of day changes automatically. Of course, you don't have to wait in one place for dozens of minutes. It's best to remember these exceptions, focus on other activities, and return to these places after it's nighttime.
