This page of the Far Cry 6 game guide contains all the essential information about fast travel. We explain when fast travel is available and when it might be blocked, as well as how to unlock new potential fast travel destinations.
Using fast travel
The fast travel mechanic in Far Cry 6 works very similarly to the previous games in the series. When you hover over the icon of a larger location (e.g. a village, camp or outpost), a fast travel indicator may appear. This only applies to allied or neutral locations. You can't use fast travel to reach enemy locations - you have to recapture them first in order to bring them under guerrilla control.
Fast travel is free in the game - you can use it as many times as you want.
The game may temporarily prevent you from activating fast travel if:
- You are currently in combat - you must first eliminate all opponents or run away from them.
- You are very close to or within the location you want to travel to.
- You are currently completing a mission that cannot be cancelled - you need to complete the objective before you can fast travel.
Later in the campaign, you can unlock the wingsuit and from then on, you will be to select between two fast travel options:
- "Classic" fast travel - when you select it, you will appear on the ground in the selected location.
- Air Drop - This will allow you to activate your wingsuit or parachute in mid-air. This option can be especially useful if, for example, you want to get to a location adjacent to a fast travel point faster.
The game can unfortunately block the air drop option if there is an anti-aircraft gun in the area. You have to find and destroy them first (if you don't see the big red icon on the map, then visit the nearby large military camps).
New fast travel destinations
When you first enter a new location or take over an enemy location, a notification should appear on the screen denoting a new potential fast travel destination.
Later in the campaign, you can start travelling to rebel camps. One of the unique locations in each camp is the Construction Desk, where you can order blueprints for buildings. We recommend that you opt for the Hideout Network.
Financing this projects adds Guerrilla Hideouts to the map - you will now be able to fast travel to them. This is a very useful feature, as some hideouts may be located in map areas that you haven't visited yet.
An added bonus of each hideout is that it provides basic equipment, including a workbench, supplies, or access to vehicles.
After ordering the Hideout Network project in the camp, you can also meet with the Chief Scout and spend pesos to buy and add new hideouts to the world map.
