This page of the guide to Far Cry 6 covers the most important information and mechanics of Heat. You will learn what a Heat is, when a chase can start and how to lose enemy soldiers who are hunting you.
Heat Meter bar and its loading
Heat in Far Cry 6 works similarly to the police stars in GTA games. Killing enemy soldiers gradually fills up the Heat bar, located next to the radar in the bottom left corner of the screen.
The Heat bar shows how vigilant the enemies are to your actions. The bar will initially be yellow. Once it fills up to 50%, more "regular" soldiers will start appearing in the area.
It's worth noting that the Heat bar can also decrease on its own, which will happen if you don't attack or alert any enemies for a longer while.
Red pursuit bar and special forces
If the Heat bar fills up to 100%, it will turn red and the chase will start. The main difficulty are the Special Forces soldiers, who have better equipment than ordinary enemies - they can use rovers and heavy duty equipment, as well as e.g. hide behind folding shields.
Fight or flight
Each time a new chase starts, you have two options - fight or flight.
Fighting is a good option only if you already have good weapons and gadgets, or if you're currently using a good vehicle, e.g. an armored ride, a tank or a helicopter. This will allow you to defeat special forces much easier.
Running away is a better option if you don't have good equipment or don't want to risk direct combat. Losing the pursuit is easy. You can e.g. leave asphalt roads used by enemy vehicles (unfortunately a helicopter can also be a part of the chase) or reach the nearest ally location, (e.g. one of the rebel hideouts). When you lose the chase, the game will display an appropriate information and the Heat bar will be reset to zero.
