This page of the guide to Far Cry 6 explains how to open locked doors and metal gates, which can be an obstacle on your way to e.g. infiltrate an enemy outpost or bunker. Additionally, you will learn if Far Cry 6 features any lockpicks.
Closed doors can be encountered mainly during the exploration of various hostile locations - outposts, forts or camps. You shouldn't ignore them, because they very often lead to areas with valuable and unique loot.
Unfortunately, in Far Cry 6 you can't use lockpicks to open a lock. Instead, you must always get a matching key, and when you approach the door, it will tell you what key is needed.
You can find the keys in the same location where the locked door are. They might:
- Be in the inventory of an officer who walks around a given hostile location - try to identify him through reconnaissance. If you have already killed all the enemies in a particular location, then look around for the "flashing" officer's body.
- Be somewhere in plain sight - it is a good idea to search all publicly accessible rooms of a location.
Things are a little different for closed gates. Here, you don't find any keys, but instead you must destroy their padlocks using any weapon. This unfortunately means that you have to approach the gate from the "correct" side, i.e., the side that allows you to hit the padlock.
Additional hint - If you do not see any passage to an area that is, for example, surrounded by a high fence, then look around for wooden planks or other such obstacles. You can destroy them with a machete or melee weapon and unlock passages this way.
