AC Shadows: How do horses work?

Horses are the only mounts available in Assassin's Creed Shadows. They are mainly used for quickly moving around the world map, especially since points of interest are often quite far apart from each other. How to unlock horses?
Actually, this is quite simple, because you will receive a horse at the very beginning of the game, in the tutorial, when you will be playing as Naoe. After completing it and unlocking free exploration, you will get the option to change your horse.
Where to buy new horses?
Some merchants, mainly those who sell decorations, offer the possibility of buying new horses, or rather a new look for the horse. These merchants are located in larger towns.
How to change the horse's appearance?
All you need to do is open your equipment. There you will notice that there is a special slot for your horse. Entering it, you can change both the mount and choose a saddle for it.
Can you upgrade a mount?
Unfortunately, Assassin's Creed Shadows does not allow for upgrading the mount in any way, i.e. increase its speed or stamina. The only changes that can be made are purely cosmetic. Even if the rarity of the horse is better than the previous one, it does not affect its statistics in any way.
Horses in the wild
It may also happen that while exploring the game world, you will notice other horses - you can mount them and ride. Unfortunately, you cannot own such horses - you will lose it if you move away from the animal. When you want to call a horse, the one that is currently equipped will appear.
