AC Shadows is locked at 30 FPS during cutscenes and many fans don’t like this idea
Many players are quite shocked that developers from Ubisoft decided to implement 30 FPS cap during AC Shadows cutscenes. Some even believe that in this state the game is unplayable.

Assassin's Creed: Shadows is here and it is a solid game, but it definitely is not perfect. The newest Ubisoft title causes some technical issues among the players. Bugs that people encounter are different in nature, starting with small and almost funny ones like disappearing and reappearing DLSS, ending up on those making the game unbearable or impossible to play at all. However, there is also one more, quite strong we may add, movement among fans – those who loudly complain about 30 FPS in cutscenes.
30 FPS controversy in AC Shadows
Technology is going forward quite fast. Of course, changes are also visible in the gaming world. Games are prettier and prettier, more and more like reality. However, there is a cost to that – hardware. While specs of consoles are fixed and players have to come to terms with the fact that they are restricted by them, those using PC are more mobile in this case. They can push the visual and gameplay boundary as far as their computers allow.
The above also means that those with the best machines are looking for opportunities to test their configurations. So, artificial restrictions, especially in new games, are never a pleasant sight. Now you ask me why I have written such a long introduction…
It seems that many people do not like Ubisoft decision to introduce 30 FPS cap during cutscenes. Some even believe it makes them unplayable. Of course, there is a solid reasoning behind this restriction – thanks to that developers can use more detailed models and better effects than in the rest of the game. At the same time, weaker computers can handle cinematics better. On the other hand, if you run the game in over 100 FPS and you are suddenly capped to 30 FPS, it can impact your experience. The best option would be to implement the possibility to toggle this feature. Sadly, there is none.
