Throwable items can significantly facilitate your gameplay as Naoe, as she's the one using them. They enrich your build and can be useful in various situations, not only in combat. In our Assasin's Creed Shadows guide, you will learn how you can unlock most of them and when to use them.

How to unlock throwable items?

Keep in mind that only Naoe can use throwable weapons They can be unlocked in the Tools skill tree. You can obtain four different weapons:

  1. Kunai,
  2. Shuriken,
  3. Smoke bomb,
  4. Shinobi bell.

Remember that you won't unlock all of them right at the start. First, you must achieve at least the second rank of Knowledge, by obtaining at least 10 Knowledge Points. You can read more about this on a separate guide page: How to gain Knowledge Points?.

Kunai

Kunai is unlocked for free after completing the tutorial. This is a basic throwable object. It's used in long-distance combat, e.g. you can hit opponents in the head. It can also be used to destroy explosive barrels. Some weapon or armor skills allow you to throw a kunai to kill one more opponent after a successful stealth kill.

Shuriken

Shurikens inflict significantly less damage compared to kunai, but you can have more of them in your inventory. They are great for finishing off an enemy or destroying explosive barrels.

Smoke bomb

A defensive tool that is worth using when you risk detection. You can throw a bomb at a designated place, which will make the enemies lose sight of you. It's worth using it when you want to set up an ambush, or to sneak away from a dangerous place unnoticed. If an enemy gets trapped in the smoke, you can also perform a silent assassination.

Shinobi bell

A throwable object, which is mainly used to disorient enemies. It works similarly to whistling, but over a greater distance. The bell, after colliding with the point you selected, will draw the enemies' attention to that spot. This will make it easier for you to move around patrolled areas or perform silent assassinations.
