What unique features and functions does the hideout in Assassin's Creed Shadows have? On this guide page, you will find the most important information about the location and expansion of the hideout. We explain, e.g. how to get to the hideout, what are the main buildings and objects in the hideout, how to obtain materials necessary for construction, and also how to make tamed species of animals appear in the hideout.

When will we get access to the hideout?

You will gain access to the hideout after the prologue where you play as Naoe. After difficult events, the protagonist will receive help from Tomiko - the family's friend, who agrees to help Naoe on her path to revenge.

Over time, you will have the opportunity to expand the base and bring more allies to it and form the League. Between main missions, you will occasionally return to the hideout managed by Tomiko. You will witness many significant parts of the story here.

How to construct new buildings and expand the base

The hideout can be somewhat called a settlement, as it covers an area of over 1 acre (just over 4 thousand square meters). We can freely expand the settlement over time. To enter the expansion mode, go to the table in the main building or hold down the button visible at the bottom edge of the screen.

Some buildings have a purely aesthetic character. Others will, however, provide you with additional, tangible benefits. Among the most interesting buildings, we should definitely mention:

  1. Kakurega - allows you to manage other kakuregas scattered all over Japan. Higher ranks of the building allow for locating rare collectibles and removing local alarm systems with the help of scouts.
  2. Dojo - we can train allies in it, who have joined our League. The training enhances the skills offered by them.
  3. Blacksmith - thanks to it, we can improve equipment and melt unwanted loot to recover materials. You can find more information about this building on the page How to unlock the blacksmith?.
  4. Stable - it allows you to use the services of scouts who can smuggle resources. The upgraded stable allows you to transport resources using only one scout.
  5. Study - thanks to it, we can increase the number and effectiveness of scouts.
  6. Tera - a Buddhist altar that increases the amount of experience gained by 10%.
  7. Jinja - increases and extends the bonuses you get by praying at Shinto shrines.
  8. Zashiki - increases the effectiveness of rations by 20%.

The game gives a lot of freedom in terms of rotating and combining different buildings. It allows to modify both their exteriors and interiors - we can place various kinds of decorations and collected artifacts in them. A wide range of cosmetic items will allow you to perfectly match the League's hideout to your preferences.

You can find new objects and skins by thoroughly exploring the world, performing side activities, and visiting appropriate vendors marked with a black building icon.

Once the buildings are placed, you can easily move or even remove them in the building menu.

However, constructing buildings and upgrading the base consumes valuable resources. You will most often find them in guarded temples, castles, and other locations full of enemies. From time to time, you will also come across large supplies of resources, which you can smuggle into the base with the help of scouts.

The game won't allow you to fully expand the hideout right away. In addition to having resources, you will also have to make enough progress in the story and gain new allies.

Allies and animals

After unlocking both main characters, you will have the opportunity to freely perform missions. By completing quests related to the League (central part of the Targets tab), you will earn the recognition of NPCs who sympathize with your cause. They can live in your hideout. In addition to a new settler, you will also get the option to summon them for help during combat.

Besides your allies, you can also have domesticated and tamed animals. By drawing pictures of wild animals and petting domesticated ones, you will have the opportunity to "summon" them to your base in the building menu. This option has no practical use, but it allows you to make the hideout more appealing and personalized.
