Legacy of Thieves Collection - basic info

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection is a title of a bundle released in 2022, consisting of two games:

1. A remastered version of Uncharted 4 A Thief's End - the base fourth installment of the Uncharted series.
2. A remastered version of Uncharted: Lost Legacy - a standalone expansion with new story which action takes place after the events seen in Uncharted 4.

Interestingly enough, the games from the bundle offer only singleplayer - the multiplayer portion of Uncharted 4 has been deleted, having been available in the PS4 version.

The Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection was developed with two platforms in mind:

1. PS5 - the users of this console can buy the collection or make a paid upgrade from an owned PS4 version (more about this in the next fragment)
2. PC - for PC users, this is first opportunity to get acquainted with the Uncharted series. Unfortunately, the collection doesn't offer Uncharted 1-3, which continue being exclusive titles for PlayStation consoles.

Buying or unlocking the remasters

You can obtain Uncharted 4 and Uncharted Lost Legacy in two ways:

First option is buying Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5 or PC. Its suggested price is 49,99$/49,99€ - the set offers access to remasters of both titles. The collection is offered in digital or physical (PS5 only) form.

The second option is more complicated and involves upgrading the PS4 version to the PS5 version i.e. to the remaster version. The upgrade costs 10$/10€ and is available for:

1. Uncharted 4 on PS4 - either physical or digital version
2. Uncharted Lost Legacy on PS4 - either physical or digital version
3. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: Lost Legacy Digital Bundle - available only in digital form.

Important notes:

1. The upgrade option isn't available to owners of Uncharted 4 released as a part of PlayStation Plus subscription. In this case, you need to buy the whole game, either the PS4 version or Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for PS5.
2. In case of having a physical version of the game, you need to have PS5 base edition (the one that has an optical disk drive), as the disk has to be in the drive while playing the remaster.
3. You cannot buy the upgrade for one game, as the collection consists of two titles. You can buy the missing game so its automatically updated to the remastered version.
4. Upgrade isn't mandatory to play both titles on PS5. If you decide to skip buying the upgrade, simply the original versions of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: Lost Legacy will be started, without new features and changes introduced by the remaster.

Upgrades and novelties in Uncharted 4 remaster

The Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection offer higher quality visuals and improved performance compared to PS4 versions. In case of the remaster, the PS5 users receive 3 graphical modes to choose from:

1. Fidelity Mode - focuses on visual quality. Allows playing in native 4K and in 30 frames per second.
2. Performance Mode - offers less attractive visuals compared to the Fidelity Mode, but maintains 60 frames per second at all times.
3. Performance+ Mode - focuses completely on higher framerates at the cost of resolution. It allows gameplay in 120 frames per second, but only in 1080p resolution.

The remaster introduces following novelties:

1. Faster loading times - thanks to the SSD drive of PS5, the loading times are now faster.
2. Support for 3D sound - requires peripheralia that supports 3D sound
3. Use of haptic features and adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller, improving immersion.

We remind once again that Uncharted 4 remaster doesn't offer multiplayer, as it was removed from the game. The remaster focuses fully on singleplayer gameplay.

Release date

The release date of Uncharted 4 remaster for PS5 is January 28, 2022. On this date, both the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection and the paid upgrade for PS4 will be released.

The PC version will be out in 19 october 2022.
