Journal entries in chapter 8 - The Grave of Henry Avery

The first entry can be unlocked once you get to the graveyard. Before you actually find Avery's Tomb, explore the left part of the graveyard. You need to locate the pit presented in the screenshot and use the interact button.

The second entry can be unlocked right after you reach the grave of Henry Avery. Ask Sam to light a fire next to one of the crosses, and investigate the door illuminated by sunlight. Begin a conversation and unlock the entry.

Journal entries in chapter 9 - Those Who Prove Worthy

The first entry can be unlocked right after you start the chapter. Investigate the cage on your right (the one with a sign).

The second entry can be unlocked once you solve the turning mechanism puzzle. When you unlock the exit door, investigate the right mechanism once again (see screenshot).

Journal entries in chapter 10 - The Twelve Towers

The first entry can be unlocked in ruins where Nate was made to use the winch for the first time. Before you actually do that, investigate the ruins and the symbol on the floor.

The next entry can be unlocked once you kill a large group of mercenaries near the tower. Finish the fight and locate the detonator presented in picture 1. Use it and destroy a door to the tower. Get inside and investigate the symbol from picture 2.

Entry number three can be found once you leave the main part of the map. You will get to a small tower on a hill. Approach it and press the right button.

The last entry is at the drawbridge. Investigate the ruined right tower and find another symbol.

Journal entries in chapter 12 - At Sea

You can unlock the first journal entry at the very beginning of the chapter. Head towards the largest isle of the archipelago, to the left. You have to stop after you come close to the beach shown in the above screenshot, get out of the boat and find a grave here.

You can find the second journal entry after you reach a small isle to the left of the main isle within the archipelago. Namely, you have to explore the ship wreck shown in the above screenshot.

You can unlock the third journal entry after reaching the right large island of the archipelago (the one with a small tower). Explore the central part of this island and locate a hanging skeleton from the screen above.

You can obtain the fourth journal entry right after you reach the pirate hideout that you'll recognize by the large statues shown in the above screenshot. You can obtain the entry before you try to make it down (remain on the ledges above).

You can obtain the fifth journal entry soon after the fourth one. You have to make it to the bottom part of the pirate hideout and explore side rooms. Inside one of them, there is the model shown in the above screenshot that you have to examine.

You can obtain the sixth journal entry towards the end of the chapter. You have to reach the large statue of Avery that appears on the right isle (the smaller one).

Journal entries in chapter 13 - Marooned

You can obtain the first journal entry soon after you use grappling hook to swing over to the cave behind one of the waterfalls. After you reach the cave, make it over to its right side. Find the inscription on the wall shown in the above screenshot.

You can obtain the second journal entry soon after you leave the cave with the above collectible. You have to find the hanging skeleton and press Triangle.

Journal entries in chapter 14 - Join Me in Paradise

You can obtain the first journal entry during the exploration of the initial part of Libertalia. Take a look into the buildings you pass by. There is a stable on the left and you have to examine the horse skeleton there.

You can obtain the second journal entry nearly right after you obtain the previous one. Exit the building and find the plaque by the main road.

You can obtain the third journal entry up ahead. Find Avery's statue and examine the symbol on the base of the statue.

You can obtain the fourth journal entry right after you obtain the above on. Wait for Sam to stand by the device for holding prisoners and make a sketch of the device (at the same time, you will have an optional conversations).

Journal entries in chapter 15 - The Thieves of Libertalia

In this chapter, there is only one journal note. You can obtain it at the very beginning of the chapter. Approach Avery's stone head on the ground and make a journal entry.

Journal entries in chapter 17 - For Better or Worse

In this chapter you can make two journal entries. You obtain the first journal note after you drive the jeep up to the big water mill. The other note is at the end of this chapter. Approach the bridge that snapped under the jeep. Make the entry.

Journal entries in chapter 18 - New Devon

You obtain the first entry after Nate obtains the Mughal vase in Avery's estate. You can get another one after the cutscene that tells the story of the pirate poisoning. Make a note on their table.
