Make a Sandfish Trap

The Basic Sandfish Trap can be crafted using the Worktable in your workshop - My Time at Sandrock: World of Sandfishing - walkthrough - Side missions - My Time at Sandrock Guide, Walkthrough

The Basic Sandfish Trap can be crafted using the Worktable in your workshop. It requires the following materials:

  1. Copper Bars x2 - can be crafted with the Furnace for a total of 6 Copper Ore (you'll find it in the Eufaula Salvage Abandoned Ruins). Copper Bars can also be obtained by processing Copper Scrap in the Recycler.
  2. Wooden Stick x3 - can be crafted with the Worktable for total of 18 Wood, which can be obtained by cutting down nearby bushes or processing Wood Scrap in the Recycler machine. These methods have a chance to net you complete Wooden Sticks.
  3. Thick Rope x1 - can be crafted with the Worktable using 4 Plant Fibers, which can be obtained by cutting down bushes or hand picking plants.

Once you have obtained all the necessary materials, craft a trap and make sure you have a few Sandworms in your inventory. You should have a decent supply at this point in the game, since you may obtain them by picking up materials from the ground or digging into rocks. You can also take a walk around the sandy areas surrounding the workshop and collect them by hand.

Although there are several different fishing spots indicated with a hook symbol in the game, the task requires you to go to a specific location (we've marked it in the screenshot above). Once you reach it, a cut-scene will play in which Elsie is wrestling a fish. After helping, the girl will return the favor and gift you 2 Sand Carp. This means that you only have to catch one fish to complete the task.

At this point, the screen will display instructions on how to fish - My Time at Sandrock: World of Sandfishing - walkthrough - Side missions - My Time at Sandrock Guide, Walkthrough

At this point, the screen will display instructions on how to fish. The task isn't overly time consuming or complicated.

To catch a fish:

  1. Cast bait - select the Sandworm from the pop-up menu, aim and cast the worm.
  2. Wait - the fish should quickly notice the bait and swim up to it. During this time, equip the Basic Sandfish Trap and begin targeting.
  3. Cast the trap - when the fish stops by the worm and its silhouette is highlighted, release the trap, and after a moment, the fish should have already landed in your basket.

The Basic Sandfish Trap is a reusable item, so you can keep fishing until you're successful. Keep in mind, however, that you need to cast bait before each attempt.
