The following page contains information on gaining experience points and character levels. We also describe the main character's various stats and skills. You will learn how to spend your Knowledge Points and what to invest in. We also explain how to reset assigned points.

Experience points

In My Time at Sandrock, performing certain in-game actions rewards you with Experience points. You get XP for obtaining resources, completing various quests, and defeating monsters in battle. When the Experience points bar fills up, your character will level up and your stats will increase. The higher your level, the more XP you'll need to level up again.

Character stats

Your character has various different stats that affect a variety of skills. All of them can be increased by leveling up, equipping certain outfits and accessories, and with food and items.

1. Health Points - this stat indicates how much damage your character can take before being defeated in combat.
2. Stamina Points - this stat indicates your character's fatigue level. When your character's stamina bar reaches zero, they will be unable to undertake actions, so it's critical to increase this stat regularly.
3. Endurance - this stat is key during combat. It indicates your character's ability to attack and dodge. During battle, these points only regenerate whilst not attacking or actively defending yourself.
4. BREAK - this stat indicates how well you can penetrate the opponent's defense. The higher it is, the faster you can destroy enemy shields and thus increase the damage dealt.
5. Toughness - the higher this stat, the more hits your character can take before the enemy breaks through your defenses.
6. Attack - this stat indicates how much damage you can deal to your opponent during a fight.
7. Defense - your defence points indicate how much less damage you will take when hit.
8. Critical Rate - this stat indicates the chance of a critical strike.
9. Critical Damage - this stat indicates how much more damage you deal to enemies upon a successful critical strike.
10. Luck - the higher this stat, the higher the chance to find rare resources and items when scouting.

Skills

In My Time at Sandrock, you will unlock the Skill tree when your character reaches level 5. It is divided into four sections, and each can be progressed by investing Knowledge Points earned by performing specific actions in the game.

Initially, some skills are locked and you'll need to invest in the earlier skills in order to access them. You can invest several times in most skills, allowing you to either increase your current bonuses or gain completely new ones.

Below we describe each skill category and point out which skills are worth your time.

1. Gathering - earn these points by searching through piles, digging, and collecting various resources and items from the ground. It's worth investing points in Stamina Knowledge to increase your maximum Stamina level, allowing you to do more activities throughout the day. Herbal Knowledge increases your chances of finding Dew when picking herbs, which is key when making water supplies. Fuel Finding Knowledge, on the other hand, will earn you more Power Stones while digging. Power Stones serve as fuel for your machines, so you need as many as possible.
2. Workshop - you will earn points in this tree by using the Worktable and crafting items from blueprints. It's a good idea to buy the Water Conservation Knowledge skill first, as it reduces the amount of water required to cool your machines. With the Time Management Knowledge skill, you can reduce building time by 10%, while the Quality Goods Knowledge skill will increase the chance of crafting higher quality machines and items.
3. Combat - to increase this category's level, you need to fight against enemies and train with the locals. First of all, it's a good idea to choose a specific weapon type to specialise in and focus on buying all the Skills associated with it. Investing points in all weapon types isn't recommended. Survival Knowledge is also an important skill, as it increases both your Health Points by 10%, as well as the amount of health gained from items.
4. Social - these points are mainly earned through conversations and training with NPCs. In this tree, it's best to focus on Skills that increase rewards for completing Commissions, namely Commision Knowledge, Chart-topper Knowledge, and Quick Delivery Knowledge. You'll be doing a lot of these quests during the game, so it's a good idea to increase the bonuses for completing them as soon as possible.

Respeccing Knowledge Points

You might find that your chosen skill tree branch doesn't meet your expectations, or that you simply need different skills at a given moment. In My Time at Sandrock, there is an option to reset your Knowledge Points, allowing you to reallocate them.

To respec, head to Clinic (we marked the location on the map above). Talk to Fang and select the third dialogue option. Now all you have to do is decide which tree you want to reset. Note, however, that it costs 10 Gols to respec each point and you will always reset all Knowledge Points from a given section.
