This page of the guide to Like a Dragon Ishin compiles the available Masters of Combat who can teach the hero new skills. You'll also learn about the dojo, where you can train combat.

Last update: 23 February 2023

On this page of our Like a Dragon: Ishin guide we have listed all Training locations - these are martial arts masters dojos (where you can learn new skills) and combat challenges (where you can get XP and unique rewards).

The battle arena wasn't included, as it's a more complex area offering more challenging battles. We've described it in detail on a separate page.

Most important information about masters and training grounds

There are 5 locations tied to martial arts masters and training in Kyo - Like a Dragon Ishin: Masters of Combat and training locations - Secrets and activities - Like a Dragon Ishin Guide

There are 5 locations tied to martial arts masters and training in Kyo. Meeting the masters lets you unlock new skills on the skill trees. These are initially locked off with padlocks. Completing the training removes the padlock and lets you purchase the skill for the cost of 1 Orb.

Note - Some skills unlocked by masters are far down the skill tree. You must purchase the previous skills first to reach them.

Though training varies depending on the master, usually:

  1. you must execute correct moves according to the instructions on the screen the correct number of times - for example, you may be asked to counter five times;
  2. completing a lesson unlocks one or two new skills for purchase - you'll be informed which ones.

The next lesson can become available immediately or after meeting the master's requirements (more information later down the page). At the end you may need to face the master himself - they're all very challenging opponents.

Completing training challenges, on the other hand, lets you learn more about the combat styles, earn XP and unique rewards. Treat them as an optional activity, their purpose being to help you develop your character.

The masters' dojos and training grounds are marked with green Training icons on the map, though they must be visited first. Their locations are initally hidden - we've listed them below.
